The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nintendo is hard at work on The Legend of Zelda for smartphones and tablets. Link’s adventure will follow Animal Crossing which launches later this year. The Zelda title will arrive in 2018 and it’s not clear whether Nintendo will take the paid route like Super Mario Run or alternatively make the game free-to-play with micro transactions like Fire Emblem Heroes.

I don’t think they will port Fusion. For one thing, touchscreen games suffer when you have too many buttons. And Fusion not only uses all six GBA buttons, but requires more then one button to be pressed at a time ( for missiles and diagonal aiming). Just about the only game they could ‘port’ would be Metroid Prime Pinball. I honestly feel they will make a new game if they do make a Metroid game.

Even with a single payment I’ve lost interest in Mario Run.
I pick it up every so often when waiting for appointments or trains.
I’m sure they’ll do the opposite as Mario Run couldn’t captivate the audience with a pay wall, meanwhile Fire Emblem Heroes is still thriving.
Personally I haven’t paid a dime in FEH, and have everything I’ve wanted. Plus it grasped my attention for much longer than MR due to me beating MR and then having nothing else to do.
Can’t blame Nintendo for trying to get sales from phone apps, hope it’s fun for those who play it…

Honestly, I play my 3DS for many hours each week, and cellphone games almost never. However, I would of course try a Zelda app game in the hope that it is good. I cannot promise I’d keep playing it though.
On a second point, what’s with each game scoring you different game specific silver coins in My Nintendo? They all spend the same, so why not just award regular silver coins?
