Japan: Nintendo Switch Sells 24K And Nintendo 3DS Sells 17K

It is Wednesday which means that the Media Create sales figures are available for hardware and software sales in Japan. It has been a disappointing week for hardware sales all round with the Nintendo Switch the best-selling device at 24.712 units sold and the Nintendo 3DS and the PlayStation 4 fighting for second place. On the software side of things it was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which remains the best-seller selling 36.440 units.

  1. Golden week must have wiped out supply. Numbers are down across the board.

    MK8 doing decent numbers, Zelda holding steady.

  2. It must be the novelty of the Switch, and the fact that it’s a console/handheld hybrid that’s making it sell so good. Because there’s still not enough games on the Switch for SO many people to want it. I know why I bought one. But I don’t know what other people’s reason was. And how can that many people want Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, unless they never bought the Wii U version? I’m just about finished with Breath Of The Wild. So I’m going to be bored with the Switch for many months while waiting for Super Mario Odyssey. Since I care nothing about Splatoon 2.

  3. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits. This use to be something that awaited those for all consoles. It's sad it's mostly just a PS4 slogan these days. Maybe Nintendo will get back to that greatness with the Switch. Only time will tell.}

    I also wonder why the huge dip in sales. *shrug*
