For those unaware, the upcoming Rainway app will allow players to stream PC games directly to Nintendo’s newest console. The developer behind the app has shared an update via a Reddit AMA session with regards to how the app is coming along. Andrew Sampson, co-creator, also states that the “Nintendo community is one of the biggest supporters of this project thus far”.

It’s good news all round as things seem to be on track but we now just have to wait for a release date.

That sounds pretty dope but I’m wondering how it’s going to handle button mapping for some games like MMORPG’s
i’m extremely excited for this and hope it happens but there is just something in the back of my mind that’s telling me Nintendo will not be ok with this. If Nintendo lets this happen i will be on cloud 9 and this will tell me this is a completely new Nintendo.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this. Nintendo has killed Fan games without hesitation, and people tend to have emulators on their PCs. IF this app gets approved, somehow, then that might open up a back door for people to emulate past nintendo software on the Switch, effectively killing the need for a Virtual Console service. I seriously doubt this is gonna make it past beta.
If the lag doesn’t make games unplayable, this is a really good idea.
well how terrible is your internet or home network?
You generally need some pretty decent internet to stream games… I have the best package AT & T can off me (fastest out of all the providers in my area), yet I struggle with PS Now… now that may just be PS Now being absolute garbage since I haven’t tried any other kind of network streaming for games
If this app sees the light of the day on the Switch, and it works well, iis a sufficient reason for me to buy the console.

Oh my goodness! I was not expecting Nintendo to be at all ok with this, but apparently they’re its biggest supporters according to this article. So weird, i guess if it gets people to buy a Switch then it makes them money. Also when you own the console and see the adds for Nintendo’s games it would likely entice people to buy some, who may have not bought the console just for those games. Maybe it is a good idea for Nintendo.
You misheard… The Nintendo community. Not Nintendo themselves. Ultimately Nintendo and Microsoft can block the release on their platforms. But since they plan to offer this for free I can’t imagine there being a problem

This will be awesome. If it works properly it will be a blessing for Switch owners who want the 3rd party titles that don’t come to the system and it could definitely benefit Nintendo. Just imagine being able to stream games like GTA V, Overwatch and Nier Automata over to the Switch……it would be all so amazing….I’m down for it
I’ll use this app only for Overwatch. That’s all.
Yeah playing Overwatch on the go would be awesome but I hope the Wifi connection is strong where ever you are
Well personally I prefer play at home. But also I think Blizzard should bring the game on the Switch with a local multiplayer mode, or play against the bots alone without an always online mode.
That’s what I hope to see.

For what I see on Twitter, this app let you play some games and not emulators or very old games on your PC.
Personally I don’t like the emulator. I prefer buy the game. So that’s why I’ll use this app for play Overwatch on my Switch.
