Nintendo Is Currently Battling Apple For Parts Due To Increased Demand For Switch

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Nintendo is desperately trying to ramp up production for the Nintendo Switch due to fervent demand for the system. This means they are battling huge firms such as Apple for production parts. However the fight may not end well for Nintendo because rivals such as Apple can offer better terms and issue larger orders than the Kyoto-based company.

“Analysts say rivals for the sought-after parts can often offer better terms than Nintendo. Makers of data-center servers tend to use newer and higher-margin components, while smartphone makers issue larger orders than Nintendo.”

        ||My parts would be enough for 4.8 gazillion Switches but this was only if it would come to such an extreme situation…||

        ||Obviously the least ranked would be first in line though…||

  2. Wow, a parts war with Apple? I mean, I’m not saying it’s happening, but this could be a glimpse of the seedy underbelly of tech business. Dont even battle your opponents for sales alone, stymie their supply chain as well……

    1. No this is just Nintendo tasting karma for being greedy fucks for undershipping product for all those years with other devices to drive hype. Now they actually need to produce product and having challenges since other companies, are producing similar product. This is about the time when Apple starts prepping their iPhone release for September. They already have the design, and mainly June and July, parts start getting assemble for August to do massive production. Samsung is in it still since the Galaxy 8 is doing work on the productive side

        1. Says the person who doesn’t even own a switch?! Are you 8 years old? Does you Mom have you parent controls? That’s why you can’t add. ?! Or you just don’t even own a nintendo product. Faker

      1. they’re not actually fighting apple. the article is figurative in saying that they’re a shortage of parts right now, and that both companies are “fighting” to get parts for their products. e_e

    2. It happens all the time in the tech world. Difference here is that both the smartphone makers and now a gaming company are competing due to increased demand from said gaming company. There’s no increased demand from the smartphone market as that’s already saturated.

    1. It’s not, but regardless some of these parts manufacturers have a monopoly due to either patents, design, or price so there’s nowhere else to go.

      1. Yeah sure. iPhone 7 700$. Nintendo Switch 300$. That’s a huge difference in price. Personally I don’t see many people with these iPhones or apple Watch ecc.

      2. Not a fan myself, but point still stands: If Apple need to produce these products so badly, clearly there’s demand for it.

Not sure where you’re based, but here in Norway Apple owns about 50% of the phone market. They are especially popular when it comes to teens.

  4. Interesting stuff… I guess it shows there is more to shortages than it being a marketing ploy, although those who believe that narrative will likely say this story is made up.

  5. Will there goes the false understocking lie, turns out the haters just hate Nintendo because consumers want to buy. So they make up a false understocking lie, now they have to products with Apple products nearly a tie.

  6. Makes sense since Nintendo is now focused on mobile gaming. They musta forgot the mobile market is huge. Even if they are targeting a different market, they still need the mobile parts.

I’m faxing at the Ryzen right now. Glad I held off though, with the i9, 12-18 core processors coming out in a couple months.

I’ll keep biding my time on my WiiU and Xbone and 3DS until I see where the game’s are later this year.

    1. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits. This use to be something that awaited those for all consoles. It's sad it's mostly just a PS4 slogan these days. Maybe Nintendo will get back to that greatness with the Switch. Only time will tell.}

Even if this is a problem right now, it doesn’t change the possibility that Nintendo could have created false/artificial demand before this. And since this issue is a current issue, it doesn’t say without a doubt that they didn’t create false demand with Switch before this.
