    1. That’d be one year too soon. I’m guessing an announcement for the third version of gen VII games. Definitely not on the Switch, though. Might even be coming this November.

        ||That is if there is any third version since both generation 5 and 6 did not get a third version…||

    2. You seem to be forgetting about Black and White 2 (which I guess is technically version 3 AND 4). Gen V got the “third version”, while gen VI got the remakes. Gen V didn’t get remakes because it was still on the DS, and I’m guessing they preferred that pacing between Pokémon generations, so they didn’t think it was worth elongating gen VI one more year to squeeze in the gen III remakes. Gen VII won’t be getting remakes of gen IV, but a third version is still very possible.

      1. X and Y was rather short. It seems that the more graphics they add the shorter the game play is. Pokemon Red 1st gen and Gold lasted forever.

      2. I agree with both of you. I preferred when Pokemon was 2D/2.5D. Sun/Moon does look really good and I’ve been holding out for a Switch version.

  2. Not much they can do with 8 minutes, but it has to be something relatively big if they’re holding a direct for it. The strange thing is E3 is just a week away. Why hold a direct now rather than wait a week?

    1. Because they get to be the headline all week in the quiet leading up to E3, rather than competing with all the other announcements during. If they make their title announcements ahead of time, they get plenty of attention leading up to it and then they’ll still get headlines during E3 when they show things off.

      1. Good point. I still find it a bit strange. If that is the case though and they don’t want this announcement to be overshadowed, then Nintendo must have something even bigger planned for E3. This direct could give insight into what we might see next week.

  3. YEEES! Okay, time for predictions. It could be Stars, could be Sinnoh remakes, or even another Kanto game what with the new movie and the Pokemon twitter account suspiciously making a lot of Red and Green tweets recently.

      ||That’s a big possibility too, getting rid off the civilian riffraff first and save only the best products for E3…||
