GameStop Confirms It Suffered A Major Credit Card Breach

GameStop has today confirmed that it has suffered an extensive credit card breach putting a lot of its customers in a perilous position. The attack happened between August 10, 2016 and February 9, 2017.  Names, addresses and credit card information were taken by the attackers and also it’s believed that the three digit security numbers which can be found on the back of cards were also taken.

“GameStop identified and addressed a potential security incident that was related to transactions made on GameStop’s website during a specific period of time. GameStop mailed notification letters to customers who made purchases during that time frame advising them of the incident and providing information on steps they can take.”

I doubt I’m one of those people that got their card stolen. If I had been one, I’d have gotten a letter in the mail from my card holder specifically addressing it. That & my card would be deactivated but I just used it recently.

Shame for those that did get theirs stolen.

  2. i actually received in the mail from GameStop about this which is odd because i would think they would email this kind of thing to users. i will constantly check my card account because i always transfer my money to a piggy bank within the same account which i thought was dumb at first but now i find it useful, it limits me and i can transfer any amount back for when shopping and buying things when im at work which is walmart.

    1. Sure live in the 1920’s due to fear. How bout shop through a second party (e.g. PayPal) of which blocks your primary information from being obtained.
