Today we learned that Metroid Prime 4 is currently in development for Nintendo Switch. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, it was revealed that a new team is making the latest Metroid Prime and not Retro Studios, who were responsible for the incredible Metroid Prime Trilogy. But Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe is still aboard and heading the project.
We haven’t yet heard who this new team will consist of but we’ll certainly keep a look out and let you know as soon as we hear.
||Considering Metroid 2 is an excellent remake, there is a high probability that Metroid Prime 4 will also be a true successor to the sacredness of it all, thank you Ambassador…||
Maybe Retro will have a supervising role like they had with hunters (if i’m not wrong)
no retro studios?..
so there is still hope it will suck..
Obinna, this is our only chance of a delicious perfect win..
am so delighted..

*Yawn*
I had a feeling Retro was not going to be the devs. At least the producer is the same and Hopefully this new team can do just as good.
AND PLEASE PUT ONLINE PLAY!
No! Metroid is meant to be offline only! Your meant to be alone in a alien world … Don’t ruin it with online play
Well, hunters had online play. It doesnt have to be co op, it can be a simple battles mode.
Having the same producer is sadly not a good thing as I’d rather have the developer with TANABE gone. He is the reason we got that shitty spin-off known as FedshitForce, after all. Fucking abomination of a Metroid game… (Oh & he is partly responsible for Paper Mario going down the toilet but that’s a conversation for another time.)
This was the E3 of Metroid as much as the E3 of Mario!
I have to ask then: what is Retro up to? We haven’t heard from them in some time.
Most likely a new ip
I suppose that’s the most likely case. They must’ve been working on it since 2014.
I was just going to write that. DK Tropical Freeze was their last game, wasn’t it?
Yeah, that I know of. I’m really curious about this. I want to know what’s going on with them.
So do I. It has to be something big to take this long.
Either DKCR3, a new IP, or they’re bringing back another dead series. Any of these possibilities would make me happy.
Perhaps is a 3D Donkey Kong. I think is posible since Nintendo remembers us Metroid fans.
so there won’t be any Metroid games coming to the Wiiu at all!
Good, so Retro can devlop something else freely. We need many games.
Hope this new studio is up to the task. I’m optimist.
i hope this isn’t a Mass Effect Andromeda situation. I have faith though.
What mass effect have to do with metroid? Wrong…
What Nintendo have to do with companies for scraps who failed many times? Nothing.
Putting a Prime game into the hands of a non-Retro team sounds a bit dubious, but I want to remain optimistic. As long as it retains the core gameplay of the original trilogy, it should be hard to Screw (Attack) up.
I want to stay optimistic but Tanabe… *points to my comment below* D:
Worst case scenario: Tanabe wanted to force the events of FedshitForce into Prime 4, Retro Studios didn’t like that idea & was vehemently against it, so Tanabe used his position to kick them out & bring in a team that will bow to his every stupid little whim!
Unfortunately, I believe the events of FF will be marked as canon from here on out; least we can hope is that there is no blatant reference to them in Prime 4. It’s like how the events of Sonic 06 are still technically canon as Silver still appears from time to time, but at least that game had the decency to completely erase its own plot by the end of it.
We can only hope the only reference to the game is the scene with Sylux stealing a Metroid while everything else is ignored & never brought up EVER again.
