Technical Reasons Are Not Why Dragon Ball FighterZ Isn’t On The Switch

Dragon Ball FighterZ was announced at E3 for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. However, the Nintendo Switch was not among them. GameBlog, a French site, asked Dragon Ball FighterZ producer Tomoko Hiroki about a Switch port. Hiroki says that technical specs and/or a lack of power were not the reason, even though Hiroki didn’t actually say what the reason was. The good news is that Hiroki says a Switch version isn’t out of the question. If there is enough fan demand, the team would consider it. He did warn people that even if they began work on a Switch version, it wouldn’t come out at the same time as the other versions.

    1. You can let them know by going to their official social media pages and writing them a message through them, or look for who’s gonna be the publisher of the game in america and send them a message expressing your wish for the game in the switch through their social media as well.

    1. A lot of those developers would want to wait until they can fully understand the switch userbase.. . This will help them know whether to release the next Metal Gear for the switch, or keep on releasing Bomberman games. That type of thing

    Says what’s not the reason but doesn’t give an alternate reason. Well I guess it’s better than some bullshit excuse.

    1. Lol this is a prime example of a bullshit excuse! He just says it’s not the hardware when we all know it’s simply a financial decision. The company didn’t see enough profit or the port would be expensive, so it skipped the Switch.

  2. Tomoko is a she no? Hope we get this on Switch . If it really is about demand then it’s time to start harassing the twitters, facebooks, and youtube’s of these people till we get some respect.

    Site looks amazing on mobil by the way !

  3. It’s not coming to the Switch because these devs hate Nintendo. That’s the only reason that makes sense given that this game is coming to one of the worse systems on the market right now, the xbox one. The only way Nintendo is going to get equal 3rd party support is if they just stop dicken around like a bunch retards and make a god damn powerful console already, or at least make a dock with a gpu built in it so switch owners won’t feel as if they wasted their damn time and money!

    1. You know there’s no consistent correlation between system power and sales success right? If anything there’s a NEGATIVE correlation. Making a system more powerful makes it less likely to succeed.

        Before the Wii, Nintendo’s home consoles were the most powerful on the market with the best & most fun games. Then the Gamecube came. But because of other reasons NOT pertaining to power, it came in 3rd place because the PS2 & XB360 just had more beyond gaming to offer people that wanted an all in one machine for both their games, movies, & music. Then the Wii came & gave some of us Nintendo guys, me included, the false impression that power was bad & that innovation was the key to Nintendo’s future. Then Wii U came & it was a massive failure because it was weak, because the gimmick held it back as many 3rd parties & even Nintendo themselves barely, if ever, used it, because many 3rd parties didn’t come, because the 3rd parties that did left, & because even Nintendo themselves gave up on it when it needed better support from them, not less. Maybe the Wii U could have been the next Gamecube: become a moderate success in spite of it’s shortcomings. But we’ll never know since Nintendo killed that possible future the moment they started hyping up that they were working on another system. If you focus on power alone, of course it’s doomed to fell. Just like focusing on a gimmick alone is gonna doom a home console as it did the Wii U.

        While I hate the fact the Switch is more of the same, I’m hoping it does way better than the Wii U because I’m worried about the damage that could be done to Nintendo if they have a second straight failure in a row. If it does well, hopefully Nintendo will use the next system to keep portability while also bringing power back to the focal point. Nintendo can be so fucking great again if they focus on portability, great power, great online, & multimedia functions! As for fun, well Nintendo already has that in the bag so it can’t hurt to have all the other great things I mentioned part of the next system, too.

    2. Really? Arc System Work’s previous DBZ game was released on 3DS back in 2015, and they had 2 games on 3DS just last year, including a One Piece fighting game.

      Heck, they even ported their flagship title (at the time, before getting the rights for Guilty Gear back from Sega) as a launch title on the 3DS.

      Yes, Arc System Work’s main target systems are the arcade and PlayStation, but they have more games on Nintendo consoles than Xbox (ironically, Arc System Works has skipped Xbox 360 and Xbox One for their most recent BlazBlue titles and every Guilty Gear Xrd game, yet they somehow got a timed exclusive partnership with Xbox).

    3. ps vita was way more powerful than the og 3ds, did it fly off the shelves and leave the 3ds in the dust? i will tell you on the next episode of dragon ball z. the answer is it flopped hardcore. any console that flopped is never because of power, power will never be the downfall of the console and never will.

  4. I’d bet really good money that the answer is “We decided on platforms long before the switch came out and haven’t really put thought into it again.”

  5. Considering Arc Systems Works have ported BlazBlue games to the 3DS and PSP in the past, and that this game looks like it’s running on Guilty Gear Xrd’s engine (which can play on PS3), I doubt technical difficulties were ever the reason.

    If anything, it’s probably a similar reason to why the latter BlazBlue games and the Guilty Gear Xrd games all skipped Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Namco Bandai didn’t fund them to develop it for Switch.

  6. i think it is fair to say developer these days used to write for PC / PS4 / Xbox One, probably could write one and easily port among these platform;

    As for switch, it may not cost a lot of money/man power to port but still, it involves extra work

    1. Arc System Works tends to focus on Arcade and PlayStation releases, with their flagship titles (BlazBlue and Guilty Gear Xrd) typically skipping Xbox. And to be fair, they have developed plenty of fighting games for Nintendo consoles, including a port of BlazBlue CS as a launch title on the 3DS, a DBZ fighting game back in 2015, and a One Piece fighting game back in 2016.

      It’s up to Bandai Namco whether or not to fund a Switch port, but both companies have supported Nintendo plenty in the past. A DBZ fighting game like this seems like it would do better on Arcades/3DS/Switch/Vita in Japan anyway.

    1. That was an extremely interesting read. Frankly, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Sony was pulling this crap. The claims about Sony preventing a Switch release of MH World remind me of the Disney Afternoon Collection, another Capcom game that pretty much everybody has agreed would be absolutely perfect on Switch, but for some strange reason isn’t there. Of course, rumors like this have to be taken with a grain of salt. Another interesting part for me personally is that the author came to a few of the same conclusions I have.

      “Microsoft is already laying the groundwork for the prioritization of the PC as their primary platform going forward…”

      “…the Nintendo Switch is currently sitting at ~5 million units sold…”

      Hopefully the Switch does as well as we all want it to. Nintendo actually has a strong case this time around for turning the conversation away from power, and toward functionality.

    2. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4; Awaiting Greatness on Nintendo Switch!}

      Or it’s just Capcom being Capcom. They did this crap with Resident Evil twice: using Nintendo to either test out new ideas (Resident Evil 4 & Revelations both did new things with the franchise) or using Nintendo to sell their games to a bigger crowd (the 3DS was the best handheld with the bigger install base while the PSP brand was going downhill.) Not saying this rumor is any less possible but I wouldn’t be surprised if this rumor was started by someone mad Capcom has ditched Nintendo AGAIN.

  7. If this game is using Unreal Engine 4, plus the Guilty Gears fighting engine, and it’s only 20% complete as of now, I REALLY don’t see how they can claim that if they started poritng to Switch now, that it wouldn’t be done at the same time as the other games.

    How did Sumo port an UE4 game like Snake Pass in 4 days, but they can’t port this UE4 game in time to have simultaneous release? Weird.

    1. It’s not a tech problem.. . It’s probably a sales peoplem. They probably want to see more demand for these kind of games on switch to justify a port.. .

      1. Though the Switch did launch in March which tends to be a horror show when it comes to releasing a console, but the amount of people trying to get their hands on a Nintendo Switch is a good sign that we could see the install base go above the Wii U’s install base by sometime at the beginning of 2018 or even Late 2017
