Still no internet browser though :/
All Fine with me really… But I would like Netflix or Youtube :P
considering the wii u had one at launch its a little disappointing, I do like the simplistic navigation, but the os just seemed rushed and half baked. no apps and no web browsers even months after release is just absurd
I personally found that the Browser was the best place to watch YouTube on Wii U, by switching (no pun intended) to the Android Tablet setting.

Still no wifi connection signal fix :(
Weak wifi signal fix is what I meant.
This.
I am literally only 5 feet away from my router with no obstruction and the switch only gets 2 bars.
SMH… (don’t even think about saying: “Maybe its your router”)
– – This is why I am so adamant on Nintendo’s handling of anything online.
Their servers seem way worse too… it’s weird because I hardly had these types of problems with the Wii, a 2006 console! And I was using a weaker connection (neighbors)!
Of course I would never think about saying “Maybe its your router”
Because that’s the wrong ‘its’
Wait, is this an actual problem for others, too? I have pretty lousy internet in general, but I couldn’t even walk closer to the router to actually update the console in the first place. Glad it’s not just me.
That’s a hardware issue not something that a firmware update could fix.
Nintendo put a shitty wireless receiver in the Switch.
The XB1 has the same issue when compared to the 360.
My PS4 has a weaker signal than my PS3 too.
I’ve seen people say this, so it probably isn’t “just your router,” but mine performs as expected. I recommend a 5ghz band router to anyone with streaming or gaming, and Nintendo finally supporting it with the Switch means that my connection is far better than it’s been with any Ninty console. Maybe it’s your router?
@AKA-Link77 Just wondering but what is your test connection speeds on the switch? Mine are are normally around 50ish d/l and 4-5 u/l. My router is also about 5 feet from my switch but I keep the router behind the tv and the switch dock in front of the tv.
Works fine for me. It could be the router or area you are in. Sometimes certain devices are not made like the other ones are. Switch had some trouble for some people.
When my friend got his the Switch for a second time, we hooked it up and tried downloading Snipperclips it just wasn’t connecting at first. Eventually it got one bar and we could actually connect to the eShop.
oh man sickr is so fast to put the new articles compared to other sites :P
sickr is the fastes journalist in the world.
Still nothing on the battery issue? Where it’s not accurate or something?
If it’s anything like what I’ve seen with Android battery issues, the first thing to try is to fully drain the battery and then charge to full.
Still no saving to microSD…
Or file management at all.
Oh, sweet. A lot of pretty good fixes.
I’d love a TURN OFF function from the home screen or quick menu without having to hold the power button down till it shows me that option.
Really not that big of an update, but it does have some reasonable improvements (though not the ones most people wanted).
You can rate the news now.
What it still lacks:
* a real friend list
* media apps
* web browser
* accomplishments (just a simple one, not overkill like the XBOX)
* more menu themes
* better Mii integration
* more profile icons (they are simple little images, it isn’t that hard)
* better wifi functionality
thats all i can think of atm… admittingly… I haven’t really played my NS in over a month. :(
Same, but that’s mainly due to the fact that the only game I have is BoTW, which I beat already.
Give to Nintendo time. It’s better have a good software working instead of bad sh*t running.
I agree with most of these but what’s not real about the friend list? It seems like a pretty standard friend list to me.
Can they add a function to fully turn off the system from Quick Home Menu instead of just Sleep Mode and Airplane Mode? I don’t like having to stand there for 5 seconds holding the power button to tell it to turn off, and why 5 seconds long anyway? If they were afraid it’d be too easy to mistakenly turn off, really, who’s gonna accidentally hold the button down that long?
I agree. People mocked me for wanting to power down, not sleep. It’s bizarre that we cant fully power down in an easier way (like windows–sleep, power off, etc).
gunny how i am like 100 ft from my router and my wii u connects just fine as if was next to the router, my switch on the other hand need to be at 15 ft for it to connect. i could be the only one using the wifi with no ethernet connection to any device and the switch cant have a single bar at 100 ft, hell, not even 25 ft will make it go two bars. my 3ds connects better than the switch at 100 ft and there are obstructions like walls. im not as upset because i rarely use the wifi on the switch for anything other than updates or seeing whats on the eshop.
All cool updates! Here’s hoping for more!
Still no menu music. I love the 3DS system songs :(
It didn’t have any really till themes came along much later down the line. Considering there is a theme option, we’ll get them eventually.~
enormous update, especially friends lists from WiiU/3DS–thank you Nintendo! The only massive issue im missing is the web browser/youtube/netflix angle, and i’ll be 100% satisfied. I’m at 95% already, but let’s go all the way!!
Still waiting for an Internet Browser (specially now that they added support to USB keyboards), brazillian portuguese system language (there is only the european portuguese, some words and verbs are largely different).
But I LOVED the possibility of using the Pro Controller in Wired mode, really, it’s the best thing!

It will be excellent to combine friend lists!
“Improvements to prevent unintended HDMI input change with certain TVs while the console is docked in Sleep Mode””
My automatic HDMI switcher will love this. I have my switch dock hooked up to my computer monitor (with speakers plugged into the Switch’s headphone jack) and occasionally when I’m using my computer with the Switch asleep and docked my HDMI switcher will get confused as hell.
While all good updates, the ability to copy our save data to other data storage devices is still missing. *puffs & changes to a dark voice* …hurry up……! -.-
Honest Trailers Strikes again! XD

Reading the comments, seems people aren’t taking their crap. Not a shock, Smosh hasn’t been good since 2012.
I agree with a lot of the points in this video lol I’m surprised they didn’t bring up friend codes though.
That was awesome! xD *looks at the likes to dislike ratio* 21k liked it while 3k disliked it? Yeah. Smosh is so doomed.
There. Liked the video. Or thumbs upped it. *shrug*
Wow, awesome. All your updated features are updated features found on other systems on day one. Adding friends? This should be day 1. Period. Not even something to jump for joy.
You could already add friends. This lets you add from your wiiu list. Try again, troll. ;)
Is this the firmware that finally erases data (that can’t be backed up) and delivers the ultimate “fuck you” to people who supported their “products” (games, IPs, systems, etc.) for over 30 years?
All of this because they’re paranoid over online play and piracy. Either they swallow their pride and let people back up their saves, or people (aside from pure casuals and the lowest common denominators) will never buy any Nintendo system again.
