Japan: Media Create Charts Show ARMS Is A Hit In Japan

This week’s Japanese hardware and software charts are now in from Japan courtesy of the team over at Media Create. It’s been a big week for Nintendo with the release of ARMS which sold 100K units, which is impressive for a new fighting IP. It was the Nintendo Switch which was once again the best-selling console shifting 37K units which isn’t quite as many units as one would expect given the launch of ARMS but no doubt there are supply constraints. Anyway, here’s the best-selling software and hardware:

  1. P1. Wow Nintendo is simply dominating over there right now. I remember hearing something about them increasing Switch production prior to Arms being released so that it would be easier to find a system with the game. That might explain the 10,000 unit jump between last week and this week.

  2. Great news for Arms. Better numbers than I expected.

The sad part of this story is how few pieces of harware Nintendo shipped for the launch of a new game. If they can get 100k for Splatoon 2 launch week, something is seriously wrong.

    1. Something is already wrong. There are issue with producing some switch parts. There won’t be 100k for splatoon.

  3. That’s great. Especially considering the genre. ARMS is a super unique game. I’ve been enjoying it. Although admittedly, I’ve been more hyped for Splatoon 2. Only a month to go!

  4. Decent numbers for a new IP, definitely. Eventually there will be a new ARMS in six years.
Hope it does not drop abruptly next week.

  5. Arms is amazing great news . I haven’t even touched online yet but fighting just has that addictive quality and all the players feel nice and unique
