Sonic Mania seems to be an extremely promising title with it gathering a number of awards at this year’s E3 event in Los Angeles. Japanese publication Dengeki Online managed to catch up with Takashi Iizuka to talk all about the 2D Sonic title. Iizuka says there’s some good news for Sonic fans as the game will feature more stages than any other classic Sonic game in the past. Sonic Mania is out this August.
There are the most number of stages in the Classic Sonic series ever. For that reason I want to say, I try not to overwhelm you so much as to keep your enjoyment.
That’s not asking much, is it?
Well, Sonic 3 & Knuckles had 13 zones plus a secret one.
Does that mean more than Sonic 3 and Knuckles (when combined)?
That was my first thought. That’s a tough amount of content for a 2d platformer to overcome. Coincidentally, I was just playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I have them combined not 3 feet away from me.
Also I just realized, are there special stages in the game, you know in order to get chaos emeralds?
Why wouldn’t there?
It’s going to have special stages. I would bet my life on that.
Does that include individual acts too?
Maybe the 40% of new stages will be a much as the ones in a regular classic Sonic game.
With RECYCLED STAGE HE WILL GO SURPASS
Sounds very promising.
Sounds like we’re going back with the old Sonic stages. Are you happy?
Me: Yes.
Yes im
but most of them will be old stages and like this is a 2017 game not a 1994 game
