Miyamoto: “I Don’t Really Feel Like I Want To Remake Any Mario Games’

Legendary video game developer Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed in a recent interview that despite fans requests he doesn’t feel like he wants to remake any Mario titles. Instead he would rather focus on creating brand new Super Mario experiences for fans of the Italian plumber.

Despite that new, more fleshed-out design for Mario, Miyamoto says he has little interest in revisiting his older games, even with new technology. “I don’t really feel like I want to remake any of them. It’s more natural to always create new mechanics and new games.”

    1. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars could use a remake.
I mean wouldn’t it be awesome to see it remade with a claymation art style similar to Kirby and the Rainbow Curse?

  1. There are Mario games that need the remake treatment, the first two Mario Land games are a good example of games that need to be remade, it’d be cool to see them in the NSMB engine, especially Super Mario Land 2

  3. I really like to play some remake games from N64 and GC, games like Zelda Ocarina of Time, Zelda Majora’s Mask, Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion and Mario Kart Double Dash, so this is a real sad news for me.

  4. I’d be down for a 64 remake on Switch. Just tighten up the the movement and give full control of the camera to the player. If I was in charge I’d go a bit crazy with the visuals. Whenever you jump into a painting I’d have the graphics change to a more paint-stroke look. But really I’d just love to play a version of 64 where I can see all the fucking coins in the sky when using cannons.

  5. Why in the world Super Mario games have to be remade?

Ok let’s go the past, we have Super Mario 64 and his remake is Super Mario 64 DS. Both are great games because have unique features, but still I feel those two games like different games with his mechanics.

I don’t want to see remake of old Mario games because Mario games are always perfect to me.

Pssssss. Mister Miyamoto…… A new Star Fox game please.

  6. I would love to see a Super Mario Sunshine remake, honestly. It’s easily one of my fav Mario games, it was already gorgeous back then, can’t even imagine how amazing a remake would look. One can dream, haha.

…Or a Mario is Missing remake, maybe. :^)

Just give Super Mario World an HD Remaster and I’ll be perfectly happy with that.

  8. Well, so much for the Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine HD that I was hoping for. I’m telling you what I hate. I hate when Nintendo makes a 3DS version of a game, and then acts like making an HD version on a major console is unnecessary due to already making a 3DS version. Like with Ocarina Of Time. I STILL want an HD Ocarina Of Time.
