David Wise is a music-composing legend in the video game world. He’s responsible for the incredibly memorable soundtracks of games like Battletoads, Donkey Kong Country and Diddy Kong Racing. However, in an interview with Sola & Cola, Wise was asked which soundtrack he was most pleased with. Without hesitating, Wise instantly said that Forest Interlude from Donkey Kong Country 2 was the most technically impressive. With the Super Nintendo’s limited capabilities, the DKC 2 soundtrack is an amazing achievement. Check out the full interview below.

Donkey Kong Country 2 indeed has an amazing soundtrack.
Kind of off-topic. But about Battletoads. When I was a kid, I never heard of the game. Are they the toads that were in the Ninja Turtles cartoon? Or something else altogether. I always see people mentioning the game and I’ve been curious. I hear it’s really hard, like the one Ninja Turtle game.

BattleToads was created in response to the popularity of Ninja Turtles. No connection with the characters from TMNT, just Rare trying to make they’re own version.

The Ninja Turtles series and games were the hot thing back then and everybody wanted to emulate the game, thus Battletoads was born.
Upon further research, I was thinking of the Punk Frogs. They made a few appearances on the Ninja Turtles. Punk Frog, Battletoad. I was close.

Fuck yeah! Donkey Kong Country 2 has the best soundtrack out of the entire franchise. Not only does DKC1’s best track Aquatic Ambiance make a return but we also got the awesome Stickerbrush Symphony, too! One day I’m gonna play through that entire game!
