  1. Is this also only the last fiscal year? It was said BOTW sold 1:1 with the console pretty much so maybe that coincides with the previous report of the 2.7 console sales being only through March, if that was accurate.

  2. Wow, all these people who were proud owners of their Wii U for years are now shitting on it like they’re PS, XB, or PC warriors.

You guys realize that thing plays games that aren’t on the Switch as well as Wii games right? You can even play GameCube games with the Homebrew Channel. It’s a great system.

Seriously, are you fans of Nintendo’s games or voluntary members of their marketing team?

Go back in your little corner you insignificant thing. All i said was the Wii U is dead, and you know it’s true. The Switch isn’t anything special either.

      1. That’s completely irrelevant to my point.

The Switch is the successor to the Wii U in the market, but that does not mean it’s a complete replacement in someone’s home. The SNES was the successor to the NES and the N64 was the successor to the SNES, but you still needed each of those individual systems to play the games that came out for those systems so they don’t completely replace them in use. You can make that argument when talking about the Wii over the GameCube or Wii U over the Wii (but not so much Wii U over GameCube), but you CAN’T make that with the Switch over Wii U. Getting a new video game system isn’t like buying a new Blu-ray player you’re buying into a new software ecosystem.

So the fact that you’re looking to trash your Wii U just because the Switch is newer despite the Wii U having features and games that the Switch will never have is pretty short-sited of you. You wanna get rid of your system? That’s fine. That’s your decision and you have no obligation to keep the Wii U. Just don’t be an edgelord about it.

Hey, if you like the Wii U, good for you. Without it, the Switch would probably never had existed. In my opinion, the Switch is a straight upgrade from the Wii U (hence why Zelda is selling more on the Switch).

P.S. I’ll say what I want to say, and give no fucks about what I say.

          1. The Switch is completely different conceptually from the Wii U and a concept like the Switch wasn’t impossible back when the Wii U came out. It would have been running a Tegra 3 (same as the OUYA) or something custom but it would have been a “hybrid” system more capable then the Wii with a 6.2″ 480p screen with 720p TV output, been capable of 720p Wii ports, and all that and it would have sold just as badly as the Wii U or maybe worse.

The only way that the Wii U made the Switch possible was by setting the bar low for graphics. If it had been even twice as capable as it was (still vastly weaker than the PS4 and XBO), then the Switch would not have been able to play Breath of the Wild in handheld mode. That’s literally the only reason that the Switch can tout “console graphics on the go”.

Breath of the Wild sold more on the Switch because the Switch is newer and was made more available at the time of BotW’s release. BotW was advertised primarily as a Switch game with Switch copies getting more prominent placement in stores, and because they stripped features out of the Wii U version so that the Switch version would be on-par with it.

“P.S. I’ll say what I want to say, and give no fucks about what I say.

            That’s an edgelord statement.

    1. ohhh hmmm excelent point but maybe all because of the kernels eh colonel? hmm maybe even a not thoguh becuz you don’t know when the reaper is at your door and ready for more, so much more dont even try it mister…. part deux

  3. 3.84 million accross both platforms was reported for March. These numbers aren’t recent. The game has sold over 100,000 additional units in Japan alone since then. Using general breakdown of sales, at least 400,000 WW is likely since March.

  4. Managed to trade my Wiiu and all the games with my old HTC at CEX and got a Switch. I was sceptical about wll the amazing reviews BOTW received but it really is an amazing experience.
Secondly, I actually prefer playing the switch in handheld mode than TV.
Can I ask all the switch owners here, how long are you actually getting from the battery of zelda ?? I am just reaching 2 hours, is that normal ????

    1. I think the rated battery life is “up to” 3 hours in total. They said certain intensive games would shorten battery life. For long gaming sessions, a quality battery pack is a must on the road.

    2. I haven’t actually timed it but it’s about 3 hours with brightness all the way down. If you have brightness up it’s gna shorten battery life.

I’m glad to see BotW is doing great. Now if they could have just done a better job with enemy variation, better Divine Beasts with more enemies to face, & more dungeons more along the lines of the other Zelda games, the game would have been a full 10/10 for me.
