Lack Of US SNES Classic Pre-Orders So Far Due To Missing FCC Approval

The chaos has ensued in Europe this week as the SNES Classic Mini pre-orders went live, with console pre-orders closing in multiple stores and online within a matter of hours. However, it looks like the US will have to wait a little longer for theirs.

There hasn’t been any pre-orders up in the US as of yet due to the missing FCC approval, which is required for every electronic device in the United States in order to be sold. The FCC approval certifies that the device’s electromagnetic interference is under limits approved by the Federal Communications Commission.

As it looks like the SNES Classic Mini hasn’t gotten past this stage yet, and taking into consideration that the process can take weeks rather than days, the pre-orders may take up to the end of July or potentially even longer to go live.

We will keep you posted with any further updates!

I love that movie. But I also really like Tim Burton’s movie since it’s more true to the actual book than the Gene Wilder original.

      1. Unfortunately I can’t say the same. I’ve heard that before, but I’ve never had a chance to read the book. Was Depp’s portrayal faithful to the book? That was one of the things I didn’t like.

I should clarify that that’s what I’ve also heard. I guess I just like it for the fact I’m a big Tim Burton & Johnny Depp fan. *shrug* Oh well.

          1. I’m not a fan of most of Burton’s work. His version of Sweeney Todd is the only movie I can say with absolute certainty that I enjoyed. I’ve typically enjoyed Depp’s acting in most of what he’s done, but like I said before, I just didn’t like his portrayal as Wonka.

Just an unfortunate combination in that movie for me I guess.

  1. I hope it happens on the 2nd and 3rd when I have a day off, I’m pretty much tired of the scalpers and collectors hogging all of the inventory. At least I know I can get preorders on games.

  2. I was told by an employee at Gamestop today that they received word from Nintendo about there not being preorders for the Super NES Classic. And that (unless they hear something different) it would be a first come, first serve basis when it releases. As well as “only 1 per household”. I hope this holds true for all US stores, because I REALLY hate the scalpers. And this is one way that would guarantee more people who actually WANTS one will GET one. Only thing I hate is having to show up at the store several hours early and wait, and wait, and wait some more. I waited for 3 hours at Best Buy to get the NES Mini on their final shipment.
