Japan: Nintendo Switch Sells 25K And Nintendo 3DS Sells 15K

It’s Wednesday which means it is time to find out how the various software and hardware have performed in Japan this week. Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology for the Nintendo 3DS arrived this week and promptly shot to the top of the charts. On the hardware side it was the PlayStation 4 which took the number one spot but that’s most likely due to hardware shortages of the Nintendo Switch. Here’s the best-sellers this week:

  1. I thought you said the ps4 took the numbet spot? The numbers do not reflect that? Are you guys sleepy or something???

  2. Two weeks in a row for PS4. Nintendo needs to get their shipments in order. Low stock can drive demand for a short while, but impulse buys are entirely lost when there simply aren’t enough consoles.

    1. Low stock is not the reason for high demand, and people waiting in a line, JUST for a “lottery” ticket of sorts, to MAYBE get them a Switch, destroys this “impulse buy” notion. Even without the impending release of Splatoon 2, the Switch has, is and will continue to sell out in Japan. The Switch could easily sell 30+ thousand a week if the stock was there, and it won’t slow down, as big games like Splatoon, Pokken, Mario (and many more first and third party games) and the Holidays are coming up as well, so the Switch sales will continue to be very high, and sell out stock every week. There won’t be a Switch collecting dust on a shelf, world wide, for a long time.

Careful. Nintendo+intentional low stock is blasphemous here. You gonna upset the Nintendo fanatics, mate.

  3. Wii U going strong with that 29% gain! Talk about a power house.

Although really, props to Nintendo with that hard turn around. Also for the 3DS still selling so well. Let the recent spark of creativity and enthusiasm continue!

  5. I wonder where the Switch would be at if Nintendo could meet demand? What would the numbers really be like? This thing is going to be hard to find for a while.
