A Plague Tale: Innocence is an ambitious new title from developer Asobo Studio and looks rather promising. Gaming Bolt caught up with Asobo Studio’s Chief Creative Officer David Dedeine to ask whether the game will eventually make its way onto the Nintendo Switch. Dedeine replied by saying that the system simply isn’t powerful enough for the development team to bring it to the platform.
“No. I will not lie by just saying…power,” he said. “It’s really the power of the device. In this case it was the amount of rats we need to display. We already know that there’s too many rats, too many animations, too many AI at the same time. And if we want to give justice to – it’s like there is a large bridge between [it and ] Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro. And the Switch, it was too hard to make the same game in such a different context.”
Aren’t these the same guys who promised Gameplay of that game and Call of Cthulhu at E3 yet showed nothing but Cinematic trailers?
Yeah, the Switch isn’t powerful enough for a liner horror game that’s pretty dull looking. I’d rather a HD Remaster of Pathologic than this game. Not really hating on it that it’s not coming to Switch (I have a gaming PC for third party games that aren’t on Switch), I’m more mad at the devs constantly lying about the development of the game.
Either way, I’m not going to even bother getting it on PC and just buy Pathologic on Steam, much better game.

Why play behind your poor man 2000 dollar PC when I can sit on my compfortable 3000 dollar sofa infront of my 2500 dollar 4k television thats 4 times the size of your computer screen if not more , with my 2000 dollar sound system? If that means playing on a PS4 than so be it , controller is nicer to play than a keyboard and mouse anyway and I know what i’m talking about since I competed at the top 0,5% in all blizzard games and most shooters on a pc;)

Switch owners are more than happy with what we have, and what we have coming. Cool, this guy doesn’t want to scale back the amount of rats on screen at once. All he is losing are sales. Nobody expects Switch to be completely on par with PS4, but when the Switch is running full blown modern game engines without much problem, just having to scale back a little on resolution, or framerate, instead of having to build the game on a completely different and weaker engine like the Wii required with any sort of PS3 game port, the excuses of power are very thin and lazy. His loss, Switch will still get plenty of great games and continue to outpace initial sales of PS4/XB1 throughout the rest of the year and beyond. Nintendo is swimming in money, his one game isn’t a big consequential loss.

They are being pretty disingenuous, when a dev says a game is unable to be rendered on a system, it means that the programmers are not good enough to find a solution which allows them to. Basically its their own fault, any way you cut it. Not that they were ever going to port the game in the first place. Wana bet they never even touched a devkit?
No they didn’t make any of those games… Not sure about Fuel but The Crew is made by Ubisoft, and Recore is made by Armature, ex Retro employees that were the head of Metroid Prime.
And that simply isn’t true saying theyre not good enough. That’s like saying someone’s a bad mechanic because they can make a Geo keep up with a Ferrari.
I don’t know what is the exact extent of their involvement of lot of the games they list on their web page as “our games”, but at least for Recore is credited for Comcept and Armature and assisted by this developer.
They sound like a support studio for other developers.

That can only be true for so long, right? I mean, eventually theyll make the next console and they might be able to scale them down to the Pro and X, but the OG’s will probably run them at 20frames. Do you think that once the new boxes come out theyll completely kill off this generation?
Well, the original consoles are still the main priority. That’s where everyone is and they have to ensure that they can still play. If the games can’t run on the original, they will likely have plans to put it on the next console instead.

Most horror games are dull. Note: Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs was suppose to be the big follow up to a great game and it sucked harder than a baby on its mother’s tit. Horror games, much the same as shooters were last gen are over saturating the environment of gaming.
It’s more impressive if larger devs can figure out a way to put their games on the Switch. It doesn’t have to look the best or run the same engine. However, for the programmers it allows them to expand their skill set. This is why Naughty Dog and Insomniac did so well on the PS3. Programmers will figure out a way to make their games work.

This is an excerpt from it “the software demo testing is millions of fish and running almost 8 days, there’s no single frames drops”. The demo the guy was talking about is the Unity fish swarm demo. Fish = rats, the only difference is the model. I hate when lazy indie programmers say Nintendo hardware is weak when in fact their programming experience is based on JavaScript and HTML and they have no clue how to program for a games console!
