Tetsuya Takahashi Says He Would Like To Think About An Xenoblade X Port For Nintendo Switch

Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U came as quite a surprise for owners of the system as it was fairly different from what gamers were used to in Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii. It wasn’t the smash hit it could have been due to the small user base of the console. Tetsuya Takahashi admits this and says that a Nintendo Switch port is something he would like to think about once development for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is finished.

Lastly, I thought Xenoblade Chronicles X was a wonderful game, and also wonderfully different from Xenoblade Chronicles. But it feels like Mario Kart 8, in that it was constrained by the Wii U’s limited audience. Any chance we might see it come to the Switch?

Thank you for that feedback. I think we’re currently completely focused on creating Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and even after I go back to Japan, I have a mountain of tasks that I need to overcome. But I would love to think about it, after the development for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is completed.

    1. To most of the market it didn’t. Remember how all those Dreamcast games got ported to other consoles after it died? Same principle. It’s to make back any lost money and for the Switch it beefs up the library for everyone who didn’t buy a Wii U.

      1. I won’t argue with that. But I would really prefer they made NEW and compelling content that draw attention to the Switch, without make us Wii U owners yawn. Do what they did with Bayonetta 2. Include the first game in a special edition instead.

  1. YES PLEASE. I love Xenoblade Chronicles X. The story’s a mess but I pretty much disregarded it and had so much fun with the content.

I would rather have this, 100x more than that new Xenoblade Chronicles game.

Instead of working on that, they should have just added more and fixed the story to Chronicles X

      1. I like the themes but I wasn’t into the pacing, some of the holes or how some of the characters were handled. That alien duo that showed up later seemed out of no where and than you just had to fight them. It seemed like some of the alien races being introduced could have been done more smoothly and the running again with eating the lil dumpling guy was unnessary, imo

I felt it would have been cool to just do it Monster Hunter style and keep it simple. Our planet was fucked, we’re fucked, we’re in robot bodies now, let’s make it as refugees in this new world! BAM simple and unnecessarily messy. Than just explore this big awesome world and meet other aliens who landed there from their own situations and work on your town.

That whole thing with the clock was so pointless cause there was never any sense of urgency from it but the story made it seem like there should have been… but I could have screwed around for 400 hours and nothing.

imo it should have been kept simple, story of refugees and helping each other. That would have been great imo but w/e… after playing it I sort of ignored the weird stuff about it.

  2. I mean I really just want a sequel to X… I know I’m not in the majority, but I actually liked it a lot more than the first and there’s a lot of plot points they need to address in a sequel.

    1. How long do you think a port would really take? It also wouldn’t require nearly as many people to work on it.

    2. A sequel will never happen. The only thing Xeno”Blade” about it was the combat system. The story and ending was pure Xenosaga. Tidbits of story left in threads on purpose for you to make your own conclusion at the open-ended ending. Tetsuya cucked all of you and you all fell for the bait. 👌👌👌

      1. Jaded Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4; Awaiting Greatness on Nintendo Switch! Just need cloud storage, add external hard drive support, & to eliminate the need for that stupid Nintendo Switch Online App on smartphones.}

Don’t forget a bit of Xenogears because of the mechs.

      2. I ignored all that and kept the story for myself simple, just played as a refugee, wondering the world, working on my town, and meeting other aliens. Keeping it simple… (of course the actual story is a mess with well meaning themes but never the less handled oddly.)

I wish they had just kept it basic. Overall I loved the game, unlocking new classes, changing up weapons and styles, doing a bunch of different missions, planting those probes, running around the planet and witnessing the alien life and how awesome and surreal the different continents were. Like I know most people love Skyrim for open world and I like Skyrim too but Xenoblade Chronicles X was WAY more cool looking a world to walk around cause it all looked so different meanwhile other open world games are all just running around a forest or field.

  3. Oh!! I would so love to buy this game, as when i had it on my Wii U… someone stole it… so i never got to beat it…
I would really like to beat the game…

  4. Basically all first party Wii U games should be ported over to switch. Woolly world, 3D land, new Mario 2, star fox, wind waker HD, twilight princes HD, smash (deluxe addition) , Mario maker, hyrule warriors, w101, pikmin 3, bayoneta (collection) ………wii u party?

I’m not sure I’d buy the game at this point.

    1. I don’t like my customization options for characters to be limited because someone is afraid that a boob slider is some how gonna corrupt a teenager who is already thinking about sexual things, anyway, even without some boob slider being part of the equation.
    2. The avatar apparently doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things since they seem to be just another face in the crowd when it comes to the story as they aren’t even integral. The story would flow just the same even without said avatar.
    3. There is too much of the other Xeno games in this one & less of Xenoblade. The only thing that connects it to the other Xenoblade are the Nopon.
    4. I don’t want to be stuck hearing the same boring tune throughout the hub station that is New Los Angeles where I’ll be spending most of my time. From what I’ve heard, it sucks & isn’t nowhere near the awesomeness of the music of the original Xenoblade.

    1. 1. Yes, agreed, the removal of the bust slider was a terrible decision and the morons behind it ought to get sacked, but please, don’t let the lack of one be a deal breaker on a good game.
      2. You are kinda right, the avatar’s presence is about as arbitrary as Indiana Jones’s presence in RotLA. I can’t think of many scenes where they make an actual impact save for one of the later chapters (which I won’t spoil).
      3. I haven’t played Xenogears so I have no input on this.
      4. The music is weaker than in the original XC, but it isn’t as terrible as many people say. At least, not the music that plays while you’re out in the field like Primordia or Oblivia- the New LA theme does get tedious fast, thankfully you won’t be spending as much time in there as you think (and it’s not nearly as bad at night).

If my issue with the bust slider being gone was the only issue, I’d be more than ready to get the game on Switch if it gets a port. Sadly, it’s not so bleh. If I want to enjoy the gameplay, I can just play the OG Xenoblade Chronicles. If I want music, same thing or I can use youtube if I want to hear the good music from the game.

As for Xenogears, I’m referring to the giant mechs. If I’m not mistaken, Xenogears had giant mechs as part of the gameplay.

As for the Indiana Jones & the Raiders of the Lost Ark reference, he was only integral in one respect: he was needed to get the Ark of the Covenant into the hands of the government so they could store it away & keep it from hurting any innocent bystanders that ignorantly came across & opened it out of pure curiosity. So Indiana merely only had to tail the bad guys & stay hidden til they eventually got themselves killed by opening the Ark themselves.

But that wouldn’t have made for a very interesting movie. lol

Hm. I just remembered my 5th reason.

      5. The story is only a small part of the actual game as the rest is basically just an MMORPG of sorts. If paid online is gonna be as shitty as I fear it will be, a major part of XCX is gonna be left unused on the Switch port.

    3. The boob slider was stupid and I’m glad they took it out. It’s NOT a good body diversity option. It’s just fanservice plain and simple.

I have big boobs and don’t have a problem with breasts. (I’m also gay, so love em) But having MORE options should actually amount to MORE OPTIONS, not just something that is so transparently corny and pandering.

Like if we’re gonna talk body diversity than YES let me make a character whose fat, buff, tall short, round, pear-shaped, small boobed, big boob, etc etc…

but there was NO real body options and boobs would not be a real body option. It’s a pathetic inclusion that was mostly there for the bottom feeding otaku of the west, that was why it’s not a big deal to remove them here. They don’t have to pander to any same class of people here like the kind of dudes there that spend hundreds of dollars on weird figures of 14 year old school girls.

Well thanks for reminding me of another issue with the customization options: a bust slider wasn’t the only thing missing.
