As you probably already know the Splatfest is happening this Saturday. We have a choice between Ice Cream or Cake here in the west, while the Japanese have to choose between Rock or Pop. To celebrate the upcoming event the official Splatoon Twitter account has published some new artwork for the delightful Pearl and Marina. Check them out, below.

The original Splatoon had multiple bands for the music that played on the different maps. The Squid Sisters only really performed for Splatfests if I remember correctly.

I could swear in the first Splatoon direct or announcement there was concept art of male band members… hmmm…

Splatoon had several bands. While they themselves don’t appear in the actual game their music does. Chirpy Chips, High Tide Era, Wet Floor, Squid Squad, DJ Lee Fish, Bob Dub, and Turquoise October. I’m sure there’ll be more within the upcoming Splatoon 2 updates as well (like in the first game).
Now that I’m off my Phone I can find stuff a bit better.

Only a few of these were formally announced for Splatoon, while others were credited in the “Squid Beatz” mini-game and the “Splatune” OST album. If you exclude Wet Floor (the new band) and the Squid Sisters that makes 6 bands made up for the first game providing the music for battles and the various shops. I’m sure a couple of those will have stood the test of time and still be around in Splatoon 2 and we’ll probably see more unveiled as we get closer to release if they stick with how they did things leading up to the first Splatoon.
Pearl is so ugly… I feel bad for her
She looks closer to the normal inklings if you ask me.
I used to think the same at first but overgrew being shallow and liking her for being her own character.
Call and Marie are still my tops tho
Are you kidding? Pearl looks like a combination of Chucky the killer doll and Baby Herman from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. Her design is just kind of… egh.
I blame the artstyle. They both look like shit to me.
I’m seeing a trend in your character design, Nintendo. Urbosa, Twintelle, Marina… Yeah, you know what sells.

I was particularly pointing out the darker toned women they’ve made, but yeah, they certainly gave Princess Zelda a few upgrades as well.

But I’m 100% sure they’ll get amiibos. Callie and Marie got one. Even ones that serve no purpose got one. Bokoblin, koopa, goomba, and even boo.
If they will make the amiibo of the new band of Splatoon 2 I will only buy Marina amiibo. Don’t get me wrong. Pearl is not so much cool as Marie and Callie.
For some reason in Belgium (where i live) and the Netherlands Pearl is called Lorelei and Marina is called Mariana and their group name is Tentacool instead of Off The Hook (but the puns are still present because localisation and all that)
