    1. From what I’ve found, nobody really knows yet. From in-game references it’s definately after Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess though. Some have theorized that it actually ties all timelines back together, and thus takes place last. The upcoming art book may reveal something. And there is something in it that I think indicates it takes place last, but don’t want to post a spoiler.

      1. I think you’re right because if we take in count the DLC we can get the clothes from various Zelda games of different timeline. Maybe this Zelda is the last of all zeldas in the timeline.

It takes place some 10,100 years after the first appearance of Calamity Ganon, so it’s extremely late in the timeline and very far removed from the rest of the franchise. Hence the theory that BotW happens sometime after some colossal event that fused the 3 separate timelines back into one single timeline. Basically, some people believe BotW is a retcon of sorts of the 3 split timelines that Hyrule Historia gave us of an official timeline.

Personally, I think Calamity Ganon appeared in two of the timelines, destroyed something that caused those timelines to fall apart which forced the goddesses of Hyrule to open some kind of portal to let survivors of Calamity Ganon of the two timelines he destroyed escape to a surviving Hyrule that was advanced enough to stop Calamity Ganon when he showed up in that last surviving timeline. Since there is a reference to Twilight Princess in one of Link’s memories of Zelda, I surmise the surviving timeline is the timeline where Zelda sent Link back in time to live a normal childhood. Basically the Hero of Time is Successful Child Timeline.

I forgot to say this yesterday but my theory is basically why I think it’s called Calamity Ganon because great calamity fell on two of the timelines it appeared in; hence the name Calamity Ganon.

      2. Very good points being raised here. It seems to be a rather disconnected part of timeline. My theory is similar to yours that it takes place in the Child timeline alongside Twilight Princess. If you recall the first memory where Zelda says to Link something along the lines of ‘The hero skyward bound, adrift in time or in the glowing embers of twilight’ that clearly signifies that there is an understanding of those particular events occurring. However, the references to Wind Waker with the Rito (alongside the Zora) and the Koroks really does make it difficult to officially confirm anything. Let’s hope we all get some more concrete answers in the future!

I have an easy & what I feel is a very plausible explanation for the Koroks: it’s their true form & the Kokiri form they had in Ocarina of Time was for Link’s benefit so he wouldn’t feel out of place or something. Not sure how the fairies play into it, though. If I’m right about that, I want to assume the Koroks evolved from the Kikwi somehow.

These are still just theories, though, from the fan community so don’t take them as being canon.
