The Wii U’s Firmware Has Been Updated To Version 5.5.2

For the first time in nearly two years, Nintendo has updated the firmware for the Wii U. The console’s firmware is now at 5.5.2. However, the only thing that is listed in the patch notes are “further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”. It’s unlikely that the Wii U will be updated again anytime soon, if at all, for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, if you have a Wii U and still play it, you’ll have an update waiting for you to download.

  1. The update is mainly for patching out the browser loadiine exploit for loading Smash 4 mods
If anyone uses mods I suggest you dont update and follow the Smash 4 modding discord for more information

    1. So, nothing happens to an already installed homebrew channel in Wii mode? Well, I’ll have a thorough look around the Internet before I go through with this update.

  2. Great games dosen’t rot because of their system. People still play games on their Dreamcasts even still. I haven’t used Wii U in a while, but probably gonna pick it up when those Smash Amiiboes arrives. Gotta train ’em all :P

  3. Nintendo need to seriously pull their fingers out of their arses here
WiiU has a great catalogue of games that need to be brought to the switch. What is the longevity with brining a virtual console to a system. X and PS do it perfectly
