  1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

    ||We will sell billions more, the Xbots will be overwhelmed by the sight of the red sky…||

      1. Leave it to the Xbox One to sell less than a zombie console. Xbox Japan is like the black knight from Monty Python.

    1. I really didn’t think thedemand for Splatoon was this insane. It also looking like a game that will have lengthy sales spell. It might be the Switch’s biggest hit of the year.. ..
Might even be bigger than Mario Odyssey

  2. That’s a drastic increase! It would sell like this all the time if Nintendo has the stock to do so.

      1. I’m no expert on the demand that Switch has but I do think if the supply was there I would lean more to the 55k minimum sold weekly with the potential of seeing the 90k+ units we should see with big releases. Not saying you’re wrong or I’m right just opinion.

      2. More than 3,000 people in line at one store, waiting in that line for a lottery ticket, that might give them a chance to buy a Switch seems to suggest that the Switch could sell this much every week for a period of time. Switch was already selling nearly 40k a week when stock of consoles was fluctuating from 25-35k.

      1. That’s what I’m thinking. I’m sure Nintendo set aside some consoles specifically for the Splatoon release. They’ll probably do the same thing for holiday ’17 period.

        1. Let’s hope they will boost production before the end of the year, otherwise they will lose so much sales when Mario will be on sale.

  3. Where’s that troll who was laughing and saying Switch was fading already when PS4 outsold it for a couple weeks in Japan? Nowhere to be found I see.

As if we didn’t know the Switch would sell in these kinds of numbers once stock became available. Sure, Splatoon’s sales are insane, no doubt there, but Switch would have sold every single one of those 98,999 units without Splatoon 2 releasing.

What I wonder, is if Nintendo skimmed the shipments the last several weeks to supplement this launch, or if this is the result of the production order increase, coming just in time for Splatoon 2’s launch? I’m betting on the former, and it would explain why there were only somewhere between 25-30k units sold for several weeks, as Nintendo skimmed something like 10,000 units per week for a few weeks, and then released them with the normal weekly shipment of 35-45k to get to nearly 100,000 units for this launch.

Either way, it’s impressive, and if this is because of the production increase, and not because they held back some the last few weeks in anticipation of the launch, we could see sales in the 70k+ range easily for quite a while.

  4. What a bomb! Those are the numbers I would have liked to see with Arms. It deserved them in my opinion. For a new IP still good, though…
Nice news for Nintendo. Now 100% focus on it please.
