Capcom has said that it will be looking closely at sales of the forthcoming Monster Hunter XX on the Nintendo Switch to see how they will support the platform in the future. Fans need not be worried though as the game is clearly going to sell a lot of units in Japan and no doubt Nintendo will have to create more hardware to keep up with the demand. Here’s what Capcom had to say about Nintendo Switch support in the future.
‘The Nintendo Switch seems to be doing very well, and we look forward to further growth in its install base. Beginning with Monster Hunter XX Nintendo Switch Ver. for Japan, we are evaluating how we will support this platform in the future’.

They KNOW that Japanese games don’t sell on XBox and they they KNOW that MH sells like crazy on Nintendo handhelds, yet besides PS4 they announced MH World for XBox One and not Switch. Fucking hypocrites!
They weren’t allowed to release on Switch. If they wanted to release on Switch they would have had to do it outside of Japan due to the PS4 Japan exclusivity clause Which would have lost them their Japan consumer base.

To be fair, MH Worlds was in development years before Capcom knew about the Switch. I’d imagine Capcom started development about halfway through the Wii U’s life cycle. The PS4 has sold over 60 million console, you can’t blame a company for trying to take advantage of that. The Xbox 1 version is just an easy port.

Whats their to compare? All theyve done is released a few wii u ports on the switch. They could of easily ported a few wii games and made them hd to make the wii u look good in the first year too.
The only Wii U ports are Mario Kart and Pokken. Zelda was pretty much a multi platform release.

Nintendo has so much hype infused into it’s customers due to the Zelda port, Mario and Splatoon. It’s going to take a WiiU caliber drought ton damage the Switch’s momentum at this point.
I’m with you on most of your arguments, but we can’t deny the fact that the Nintendo Hype Train will not be easily derailed after the high they got off Zelda. They only need one solid game every couple months to keep their fans energized enough to stay on board, so IDK, I think the switch is going to hold steady at least through the rest of the year.
That where Prime 4, Pokemon 2018, and Smash Switch come in buddy, they have a lot of fucking hype generators games still, and that not even mentioning the possibility of a BotW sequel like how MM was a sequel to OoT.

Three really awful ideas.
Option 1 is a waste of money. The profit in running a platform is in getting licensing fees from other games launching on your platform. That’s the whole point. First party titles exist to create the install base which sells the platform to third parties.
Option 2 is a losing battle. Nintendo being much smaller than Sony or Microsoft can’t procure high end equipment at the same cost per unit, since they can’t safely invest that heavily into product. Sony and Microsoft, being propped up by other departments (since they aren’t game companies), can sell their consoles at a loss to buy market share. Nintendo can’t. Under this model, they get buried in pricing and die as a company in a generation or two.
Option 3 has an argument for it, but there’s no cause to do so any time in the future. The Switch is on the rise, Nintendo’s always had at least one active platform that’s profitable, and Sony and Microsoft are bleeding cash right now. Nintendo as a company is in a much better long term position than either of the other two. If anyone should abandon hardware, it’s Microsoft, who’s 1/3 in making successful consoles, and like 1/12 for electronics hardware in general.

So far in four months BotW is the only game I have for the system. The next one will be Xenoblade and Mario, but Xenoblade is going to be delayed 100%… No question about it. I know Nintendo too well. So yea, the first year of the Switches life has been a letdown for me….
But back to your original comment about the Switch selling like the Gamecube… Don’t be ridiculous.. The system has already sold over 5 million units in 4 months. With the holiday season it’s likely to sale another 5 million before the end of the year. So 10 million in the first year, which is about half of the Gamecubes lifetime sales… The Switch will probably sale between 50-70 million lifetime. Probably more than that honestly… Don’t let your emotions cloud your reason.

WiiU did not get to launch with a new Zelda.
Not only did Switch get Zelda, it got the Zelda that Nintendo used most of the WiiU’s life to build. So yeah, the cards were heavily stacked against WiiU.
For those of us that play Zelda on WiiU, the Switch is exactly in the same situation the WiiU was in, which is why we feel it is a waste.
For those that bought the Zelda as a Switch port, they view the switch from a totally different perspective, because they have an awesome launch game. So they see Switch through “Zelda Goggles.”
The Nintendo Civil War will be around a long time, but I am not blind to the fact that whether I like it or not, whether WiiU got fucked by Nintendo or not, what happened, happened, and Switch has better footing, even if it is because it’s standing on the corpse of the WiiU and it’s games.
Wii U got fucked by the market, not Nintendo. Nintendo put Zelda on the Switch so the market wouldn’t fuck them again and rightly so. Zelda still got put on the Wii U for fans that didn’t want a Switch yet could still be happy. Another right move. Even taking away Zelda the Switch has a very good lineup of games as we go into the holidays. Much better than the Wii U had in its first 7-8 months.
Nintendo does what they want. They don’t care about their customers or the market. They do what they damn well please. No dice, try again! :)

Search your feelings, you know it to be true. It reached a point where Nintendo saw it fit to cut their losses on the Wii U to ensure the success of their next console and so far it has worked in spades.
Everyone fucked over the Wii U:
1. Nintendo for not doing a damn thing to fix things like a price cut, a stronger model, shitty marketing. Instead, they let the poor thing sink further & further while the 3DS got the price cut, a stronger model, & better marketing.
2. 3rd parties for giving up too quickly as they barely tried with Wii U exclusives. Even some of their ports were done badly with not enough exclusive content. In Mass Effect 3’s case, they released the Mass Effect Trilogy on the other systems for the same price that Mass Effect 3 was going for on the Wii U. In the case of EA, they threw a little bitch fit because Nintendo turned down their Origin as Wii U’s internet infrastructure.
3. Some of us fans. Instead of demanding the things Nintendo didn’t do, we kept making excuses for the Wii U like “Oh Mario Kart 8 will save it!” “Smash will save it!” Blah, blah, blah!
We all failed the Wii U. End of story.
At a certain point, about, say, 2014-15, the Wii U was a sinking ship that couldn’t be saved. Nintendo went hard on hoping third parties would fill gaps in the release schedule and that never panned out. They realized this and made it so their next system had a better chance obeing supported by themselves, thus came the birth of the Switch’s hybrid nature.
I don’t know, I bought Zelda for the Switch and honestly i’m disappointed with the lack of games. I have no interest in buying games for the Switch I already own for the Wii U. So MK8, Splatoon, and whatever other ports are coming are of no use to me. I finished BoTW a long time ago. My Switch has been sitting idol for some time now.. Mario will be great but I can PROMISE you that Xenoblade 2 will be delayed until 2018… Mark my words! lol.. So one game for the next 6 months??? That’s honestly worse than the Wii U!

Same issue for me. Once I finished BotW in April or May, my Switch has been resting comfortably in my BotW Sheikah Eye carrying case thingy. It won’t be til Super Mario Odyssey that I have a new game to play on it. Also expecting Xenoblade 2 to get delayed. Hopefully we’re wrong, though, & it does release at the end of this year.
What the actual heck, they said that Street Fighter 2 would determine if develop more games for Switch and now they’re saying that MHXX will determine it! I’m sure it’ll sell well over in Japan, but MHXX is still gonna be overshadowed by World, so it might not sell as well. This a bad move on Capacom’s part, there’s a reason why they’re not doing so hot outside of Street Fighter and Monster Hunter.
Even Street Fighter isn’t doing so hot when you look at Street Fighter 5.

Any developer that says that they will base future development off the sales of a single game is pretty ignorant anyways. Just because game (a. didn’t sell very well doesn’t mean game (b. won’t. Maybe MHXX doesn’t do very well in the west. That would have little to do with MH Worlds success. MH Worlds is a more western friendly game and would probably have better legs in he West than classic MH titles. Capcom has made so many mistakes you’d think they’d learn from some of them by now.

As a Switch gamer I’m offended by Capcom, they are the biggest third party that I do consider to skip. And will only evaluate very important game from them (so no one for now).
Can’t ever trust Capcom. Where’s that free Resident Evil 7 DLC? Couldn’t deliver on it because it was *gasp* free?! But it was no problem releasing 2 packs of paid DLC within 2 weeks after launch.
I’m waiting to see the $500 amount of DLC MvC Infinite will be getting. :)
They said something about how Not A Hero wasn’t good enough as is because of how well Resident Evil 7 was. Right now, I only know of them delaying it so we might still get it once they do some changes to it. If Nintendo can take their time to bring us something great because of Miyamoto’s words, Capcom deserves the same benefit of a doubt. Til I hear the word cancel or til another main entry Resident Evil comes out, I’m gonna just wait a bit longer even if I do hate the delay.

Meh. This is no skin off of my back since I got a PS4. Still, this is pretty crummy of them to say if Street Fighter does well, Switch will get support only to now say it again but with Monster Hunter XX which isn’t even on the Switch in EVERY region.
