ARMS Is Now At Version 2.1, With “A New Character & Arms” Coming In The Next Update

ARMS has now been updated to version 2.1. This update is a small one, with the focus being on rebalancing and polishing the game, especially adjustments for “some fighters and arms”. We’ve included the patch notes down below, along with news from a tweet by the official Japanese ARMS Twitter account that had been translated into English. The news is in regards to the next update, which will add “a new character and arms”.

  • Moved “Training” to the top menu.
  • Added five exercises to “Training”, and added difficulty level indications.
  • Adjusted the way the rush gauge fills, decreasing the amount gained for punches that do not connect with the opponent.
  • When 3-4 players start a battle, instructions on how to switch targets will now be displayed. A cursor will also be displayed above the current target for a set time.
  • Adjusted hitbox sizes for fighters, improving issues where hits were not registered despite looking like hits.
  • Changed the pause, results, and replay menus in “Training” to be more convenient.
  • For “Best Stage” in Stats, made it harder for less frequently played stages to be selected, even if you have a high win ration on them.
  • Corrected issue that caused the game to hang-up when the ending was skipped at a particular time.
  • We have made the following adjustments for some fighters and arms:

    1. Nah, save that for the sequel. Let this game prove it’s series-worthy on its own merits, then when it does, they can think about crossovers.

Splatoon didn’t pull in Mario or Zelda characters to help it succeed; it was completely “fresh” and it paid off in spades.

      1. Maybe. I don’t really think Sploon will show up, I just won’t be surprised. What you’re saying is probably right, but it is also wishful thinking. Nintendo want to earn their moneight, and they included Sploon in both Smash and Mario Kart, so why not ARMS? I’m having a hard time explaining it English, but Nintendo is kind of desperately proud of Sploon. It’s like they can really be themselves in that game, kind of. I sound high lol. I’m thinking of the Japanese culture I know they’re so proud of etc.

But seriously: I don’t know the numbers, and it probably wasn’t supposed to be the new Sploon (even though Ninty is arrogant and full of themselves at times), but I don’t think ARMS sold that well(not particularly bad either). It had the “It’s nothing else trippel A on the Switch”-effect, but other than that it’s not the 5+ millioner seller Sploon U was. I think Ninty want to squeeze what profit/moneight they can out of the title, and since the “updates”(read stored content to maintain interest) are free, there’s a chance that they want to use a Sploon-character as marketing for Sploon 2. I don’t think it will happen necessarily, but it might do. Some gaming honor principle won’t stop Ninty from adding anything they think will increase brand awareness or profit. Even though I TOTALLY agree with you and think it should be like that. Separate the series from each other, except from Smash.

    2. Ridley X3 {R.I.P. Chester Bennington of Linkin' Park. Thank you for the awesome music. You will be missed. *cries*}

Nice words you have in your longer comment: Sploon & moneight. lol

      1. I do at times wonder how much you guys understand of my “English” . I try to avoid longer answers and replies to keep it simple and understandable. But I’m so full of painkillers because of a back-injury, so I have a tendency to write to much😂😂

It is mostly pretty good English if you ask me, so I understand you pretty good.

  1. Also can I just say that when looking at this article on a smartphone, only “PDA” of the word “update” is visible and Biff’s face looks like he’s trying to make a move on someone?

Like, no, I don’t want to have a Public Display of Affection with Biff, keep that shit out of here.

  2. ***Characters that make sense:

Dhalsim, Sonic The Werehog, Little Mac, Piccolo, Jake The Dog, Lanky Kong, Hitmomchan, Stretch Armstrong, Ristar, Vac-Man, Majin Bu, Panthor (Thundercats), Bionic Comando, Umihara Kawase, Lufi (One Piece), Spring Man (Mega Man)
