EA Vice President Was Initially Puzzled By Switch But Has Concluded It’s A Special Machine

EA has pledged their support for the Nintendo Switch with the next entry in the popular FIFA franchise but haven’t yet fully committed to supporting the system. In a recent interview with EDGE magazine Electronic Arts Worldwide Studios executive vice president Patrick Söderlund has revealed that he was initially puzzled by the platform but has since concluded that it’s a very special machine. Hopefully this means more games from EA in the near future.

“It’s doing really well, which I love. But I’ll be honest, when they first showed it to me years ago, I didn’t get the concept, I was puzzled by it. But then I was like, it’s Nintendo. They probably understand something that I don’t [laughs]. They usually do. I have a four-year old son and it’s like it’s connected to him. He will use it as a portable machine, he will plug it into the TV, but more importantly, he uses it like, ‘Do you want to play with me?’ Then he takes off the Joy-Con and we play Mario Kart together. He’s using it as intended, which just tells me that it’s working right. I think it’s a pretty special machine because it’s not just more of the same. I looked at it and thought, why would you play on that instead of this? But now it’s crystal clear to me why. That’s the Switch.”

    1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

      ||We must make it happen, cut off the head of the Xbot contributions, soon origin and purity will be the sole rulers…||

  1. vice president Patrick Söderlund I’m happy that you understand the concept of the Switch and your son has found a perfect console for his age because everybody here has grow up with a Nintendo console, even I grow up with the NES.

    But the point is this. The words aren’t facts, it seems you EA like the Switch but have fear of not supporting right or even supporting on the wrong way. If you believe your games will do well on the system then you have to believe it.

    1. Ridley X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4. Awaiting Greatness on Nintendo Switch; just need cloud storage, add external HDD support, & make that stupid Nintendo Switch Online App on smartphones optional.}

      It’s not like the Switch was made & mass produced over one single night over 4 months ago. In other words, he’s either referring to the concept of Switch which was being thought of years ago or they showed him a quick prototype of it that they quickly made to show off what they were wanting to do.

    2. I don’t know. Maybe he was talking about when Nintendo showed off the concept of the Switch. That had to have been years ago now. (Think a little deeper)

  2. He has been puzzled because he don’t understand videogames, he is just a speculator. That’s EA.
    Anyway they will make money with the Nintendo Switch, they will just shift focus like speculators do, and then make money.
