Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Pirate Queen’s Quest Will Arrive On August 29th

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero players have something huge to look forward to in a couple of weeks. That’s because a new DLC will be arriving that features Risky’s “first solo adventure”, and it’s called Pirate Queen’s Quest. The DLC’s price depends on whether you backed the Kickstarter or not. If you did, the DLC is free and you’ll get a code sent via email. If you did not, you will have to buy it. The DLC is slated to release on multiple platforms, including the Switch and Wii U, on August 29th. The news was confirmed on WayForward’s Twitter, so we’ve included their tweet down below.

  1. Probably will get it, price is still a question .. DLC prices should really be inline with what’s in it.
Take a look at BOTW; in my opinion totally worth it.
But just wondering the additional worth in game time this will involve.

    1. This DLC adds a full length campaign to the game, comparable to Shantae’s original one.
Story is all new. Some stages and enemies are brand new, though most are reused.
Enemy placement is new, apparently so is the path you take – though how that works I’m not sure.

Instead of Shantae you play as Risky Boots who has a different skillset entirely. If you played Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse you’ll recognize this skillset as the one Shantae got from retrieving Risky’s gear in that game

In short this is about halfway to what was considered an “expansion pack” back in the 90s era of PC games.

      1. In that case count me in :) im all for DLC in general but you have dlc and DLC (you will get what I mean by that). And dlc should not be a milk cow route but a true addition / expansion (for a fair price).

  2. “Following a successful launch on the PlayStation®4, “PSVita” and Wii U™ systems, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is headed to Nintendo Switch with new content as fresh as the open sea. The Nintendo Switch version of this hair-whipping action platformer comes packed with the game’s upcoming Risky Boots DLC, Pirate Queen’s Quest! In this salty new adventure, players take the role of Shantae’s arch nemesis Risky Boots, as she travels to the four corners of Sequin Land in search of components needed to deliver its destruction. New puzzles, new enemies, and all new gameplay aim to augment this already awesome adventure. This title has been rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB.”

    Hrmmm…so, what was this about?
