Despite launching back in March, the Nintendo Switch is still a hard console to come by. Nintendo has informed the Wall Street Journal that it is doing everything it can to make sure potential customers and fans are able to purchase the highly sought after system.
“We’re doing everything we can to make sure everyone who wants to buy a Nintendo Switch system can do so. We will ramp up production for the holiday period, which has been factored into our forecast.”
Forgive me if I’m skeptical, Nintendo, after the SNES Mini had preorder stock issues after you swore it wouldn’t have the same issues as the NES Mini. *will believe it when he sees it*

SNES mini there is nothing N can do when people are literally using shop bots. and as SNES mini is a novelty they are not likely gonna go and over-stock it so it will not sell later

Get one from Italy. Stores like Mediamarkt/Mediaworld have it in stock, and not just a few units.
For the past month every store I’ve gone to has been fully stocked with the Switch. So I believe they’ve ramped things up.
They’ve said this like a couple of times now… and that SNES Mini “Will have more than NES Mini” whatchamacallit thingy wasn’t too convincing either. It’s weird how it’s ALWAYS them who have a hard time delivering enough units of ANYTHING.
I would like too see what the sales of the snes are at currently. Maybe they did produce more but people who actually wanted to play it and scalpers were way more aware of it than the nes but either way it’s obvious that Nintendo still can’t produce enough to meet the demand. I also can’t see them meeting demand for the switch specially when Mario Odyssey releases.
It’s all about the manufacturer being used.
Every time? Yeah, okey they’re fighting Apple for chips now but Cartridge shortage in the 80-90. N64 hard to find. Wii impossoble for a while. Amiibo, Nes Mini, SNES Mini and the Switch. It’s more or less the scarcity principle they’re going for.
All these scarce products that I don’t have any trouble finding. Like any consumer product I buy that is out of stock, I keep an eye on it until it is in stock. It’s easier now with some many websites that help you keep an eye out for it.
That depends on where you live. I would presume. If you live on the country side in Norway where “no one” lives, you will find the rarest Amiiboes fully stocked, and Switches for everyone :P Central Norway you can’t find stuff at all. Japan has lotteries that’s enables the winners to BUY a Switch. My father wanted to buy grandma a NES Mini, but it was impossible for him to get one. And now they discontinued it.
It’s always something with them Nintendo. I love ’em, but I can’t defend ’em on this matter.
Conservative companies are like that. Some tech companies like microsoft, apple, Samsung will flood the market and have a lot of leftover stock. Even Sony is conservative with how much product it puts out. It depends on the companies outlook. One way angers consumer while the other way angers retailers. It is a balancing act.
It always is, but it always seems Nintendo is the one that’s suffering the most since the 80′. I just find hard to believe that they, after all these years, can’t keep the logistics at a balanced level… like ever.
I have a pal inside on one of the biggest consumer electro chains in the Nordic, and he says that Sony won’t let the stores decide how many PS4 they get. Even if it sells out in minutes, they won’t give them more. Or when they have enough they get more. It’s so weird.
Who the actually fuck are these scalpers? They are the reason the Nintendo Switch is selling out completely and ruining our lives by selling them on eBay for extortionately large prices and screwing people who want one, to not get one! Scalpers, if you are listening, have some respect, and let people purchase the Switch at their local retailers, and if you don’t, you can go fuck yourself and rot in hell! Nuff said. Good day!
When it comes to the scalpers, its a double edged sword. On one hand they are boosting sales but on the other hand people who legit want the system cant get it. But then again, as long as no one buys from scalpers, scalpers dont make money. Can’t really keep people from buying from scalpers but meh, how it goes sometimes.
The scalpers wouldn’t be flourishing at all if Nintendo bothered to restock items that sell out in less than 30 minutes but are still in high demand.
Yeah, people can point the fingers at scalpers, but if Nintendo just stocked it up, they wouldn’t be there.
I can understand with the Smash-amiiboes to one degree. OFC no retalier want a tower of Jigglypuff-amiiboes laying around, so Nintendo have to make sure they don’t stock up too much and loses money on logistics.
But the NES Mini? That was just a douchebag move. Only to earn a easy buck while Wii U didn’t perform at all, and make it a marketing ploy for the hype of Switch, and then stop selling it while people still wanted it. Can’t really blame scalpers for steep prices there. It’s expensive because it’s ACTUALLY RARE! That’s Nintendo’s fault.
Scalpers are simply a symptom of the disease. Nintendo sending out terrible stock is the disease.
Considering they’ve reached 5 mill (or is it 6 mill now?) it shows they’d doing what they can do increase sales. Apple isn’t making it any easier though.

It’s a bit ironic, though. Years of Nintendo claiming they aren’t trying to compete with Sony & Microsoft & finally one of their attempts to avoid competing & they end up competing with Apple, over parts, instead. lol
Indeed. Then again, Apple is sort of considered cancer by many at this point due to them always making new phones which are getting greedier by the version.

I don’t do smartphones so this is my first time hearing about it. Sony isn’t any better in that regard, though. Instead of making regular blu-rays for 3D & 4K, they made those two things into two separate disc types from blu-ray that cost even more than regular blu-rays.
I have an iphone 5 and pretty much does everyone I know, minus some samsungs. The highest is my mom with an iphone 6. I haven’t meant anyone with a 7, 8, or 9.
In central Norway, everyone goes around with the latest Samsung or iPhone. “Everyone”, but seriously quite many. At the business school where I’m attending, there is only Macs and iPhones.
Myself? Lumia 950XL and Blackberry DTEK60.
Remember in Japan I saw plenty with Vita and 3DS on the trains, but in Norway you see one every couple of years. People here are afraid of sticking out, and that’s why everyone has the same phone. Either the latest iPhone or Samung, or else you’re “different”. It’s called “Janteloven”.Check it out if you don’t believe me.

Nintendo should just sell their hardware themselves on their online store and offer pre-orders way in advance so they know exactly the demand and everyone can get one.in a reasonable amount of time. I think that would discourage the scalpers.
I hope they’re doing the same with the SNES Classic Mini.
