Rumour: Walmart Is Cancelling SNES Mini Orders For Those Who Ordered Multiple Units

A rumour has been circulating Reddit, advising that Walmart is beginning to cancel pre-orders for the SNES Classic Mini for those who ordered multiple units.

If true, this is potentially an attempt to deter “scalpers”, who order multiple units to then sell on for extortionate prices on selling sites such as eBay. However, it is not yet clear just how many units would qualify for the order being cancelled, as it could cause issues for those ordering for more than one member of the family or for their children.

It’s worth noting that this has not yet been confirmed, and it will become more apparent once the orders begin to be fulfilled, or cancelled.

  1. Can confirm… I had one cancelled. To which I was going to gift.

    Now some scalper is going to get it with his boots and sell it for $500…

    1. I’m sure clever scalpers already signed up with different names and let their orders be sent to their home address.

  2. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

    Least Wal-Mart is doing something in an attempt to stop the scalpers from ripping people off even if a few innocent people get caught in the crossfire. It’s not like Nintendo is gonna do anything to fix it by sending out better stock. As long as they got their money, they don’t care if people get screwed because they had no choice but to buy from the scalpers because Nintendo wasn’t replenishing stock fast enough or because they stopped making more stock.

      *making more stock altogether.

    2. Agreed on the collateral damage part as long as the people affected are at least getting one.

      It is my hope that this will still be produced for much, much longer than the NES Classic was, mostly due to Star Fox 2 being exclusive to the machine and being the perfect reason to keep it in production.

      …swear to god if I can’t get to play SF2…

        Unless they plan to add Star Fox 2 to Switch as a Virtual Console title.

  3. I really do appreciate how they flat-out canceled the order instead of limiting it to one per customer in the first place. Not only is it a slap in the face to the scalpers to have their order canceled, but since their whole order was canceled, they don’t even get one. Because they deserve nothing.
