The developer behind the upcoming Nintendo Switch game, Lichtspeer, has recently participated in a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread. During the AMA Tom Tomaszewski from Crunching Koalas seems to have accidentally let slip that an achievement system is coming to Nintendo’s latest system. An achievement system would certainly be a nice addition. What do you think?

I don’t find that unlikely. The Switch OS is in dire need for a major update, and there’s no doubt about Nintendo already working on it. Might contain anything, really, and as they appear to be wanting to appeal to “the gamers” this time around, I find it quite possible.
Other features I expect in the upcoming update is web browser, more OS functionalities, and streaming services. What do you think?

Most of us forget that the console has only been out for 6 months!
Just be patient, more features will certainly arrive with time, right now what I can say is that the system is pretty stable for being out just half a year, anyone remembers the hideous first versions of Wii U/PS4/XONE OS?
you obviously dont remember the initial PS3 UI… that first playstation store was abysmal, let alone not being able to press the home button to go to the main UI to just read messages!! people forget that being able to press the home button to read messages wasn’t always a thing!!! its easy to forget how far we have come in terms of usability
I definitely like the Switch OS, I find it to be really clean and nice to use. But the lack of functionality is almost embarrassing.
remember back when consoles came out with all the features finished? those were the days..
One thing Xbox One has, and always have had, is a great OS on it – and the best controller (OPINION!). Can’t think of much more really. No exclusives in 2017 to talk about.

But anyways, on Mario Odyssey game play videos have those notifications with time stamps.
Because your JoyCon isn’t the only thing they want you to waggle.
This is good. This is something that players wants on the system, and maybe I will like it.
Idk. I never really cared for this bc just 100%ing a game has been enough for me and achievements seemed rather pointless on top of that.

I’d be happy with a system like this, the other two do it, and I do play more of my games when I know there’s gamerscore to be had.
Don’t need it. It’s one of the features I don’t use like and I just find it annoying when it keeps flashing up on other systems

You can turn the achievement notifications off on other systems.
The ability to turn stuff off doesn’t justify all features in existance. Let the developers of the Switch OS use their time usefull please.

There are many, many people who enjoy the achievement system. There is a reason why it still exists, so many years after its first introduction.
If you personally don’t like it, ignore it.

No thanks, please spend more time on real updates for the switch OS instead of useless achievements. Like more themes for the homescreen, more ways to make friends, fix the Switch App etc..
YES PLEASE! Trophies on PlayStation are what keep me going back to play games more after I’ve beat the main story. It can be a lot of fun to get all of them. I do hope this is true because I’ve been dying to earn achievements on Nintendo systems!
Personally, I like the Achievement system and there’s nothing bad about having a goal to work towards and then a little satisfying Ding! to complete the experience.

Wouldn’t it be a dumb idea to add an Internet Browser? 1. We already have mobile devices, the 3DS and Wii U to browse the internet with. 2. Didn’t they say that Nintendo wasn’t working on it, being that the Nintendo Switch is used for gaming? We shouldn’t really have an Internet Browser on the Switch anyway, the way I’m thinking about it. Because to be able to use internet on the Switch, you don’t really want to take it with you and spend tons of mobile data for just a simple hotspot and nothing else. The system was of course not built for an Internet Browser in the system, but it may still be possible to add that in a future update. But still, I wonder why you would have a browser into the Switch when you have the 3DS, Wii U, mobile devices such as a laptop, phone, etc.
