Brazil: SNES Mini Will Cost R$ 999

Those of you who live in Brazil are used to paying high prices for video game consoles and that doesn’t seem set to change anytime soon. It’s been revealed today that the SNES Mini will cost a whopping R$ 999 which is roughly 320 US dollars and will be released on October 20th.

  1. This is the problem, if a demand is small in a country. The prices are high if the demand is small, this is one of those reasons, why this console will be more expensive in central european countries than in the Western. In Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary the console will be about $170.

What the guy above me said. Brazil has outrageous taxes for stuff that isn’t made in Brazil.

    1. To be honest,I tought about it several times in my life. What we do to avoid those abusive prices (often caused by high taxes) is buy in the “gray” market. Everyone knows about it, nearly everyone knows how to get cheaper, brand new products without going to a “normal” store, even if the brazilian mainstream media does not talk about it. In Ebay-like sites we can buy cheaper videogame related stuff. Yes, being a gamer in Brazil takes an extra dose of love and effort. This is how me and all my friends managed to walk along videogame generations the last 2 decades.

    1. Hey! I think I’m pretty dedicated, but I don’t have to mug anyone, specially tourist for money. I simply import whatever I want thru the marvelous realm of the internet. 💚

    2. as an American who i do not condone crime i am actually for this but instead of mugging them, scam them and them migrate to America. at least our president is just plain retarded and not a drug cartel like Enrique Pendejo Nieto.

  2. I’m usually against piracy because of developers won’t get any money from it. But rare cases like this where video games are almost as expensive as a monthly rent, by all means, pirate. That’s just crazy. And stupid Brazilian government.

    1. In fact being a Nintendo fan in Brazil is hard. Sony and Microsoft offer pretty reasonable alternatives with prices that are comparable to the US most times. Specially when buying second-hand games. If only I weren’t a fan of Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Animal Crossing and so many other exclusive Nintendo ips. :(

Not surprised. After my talk with Cindyaa (now Amaa) a few years back, I know how expensive some non-Brazil products can cost.
