Voting Is Now Open For The Golden Joystick Awards 2017

It’s that time of the year again when the prestigious Golden Joystick Awards opens and the nominees are revealed for this year. While it may seem a little early for voting for your favourite game of the year the option is now there. So hey, go ahead and vote!

“It’s time to have your say on your favourite games of the year. Voting on the 35th Golden Joystick Awards presented with OMEN by HP has now opened with 21 categories where we need YOU to decide on the cream of the gaming crop. Whether you’ve played nothing but Horizon Zero Dawn – which is tying with Persona 5 for the most nominations across all categories, with five appearances each – or already spent too much time with Destiny 2, the categories are swamped with the very best the industry has to offer. Breath of the Wild or Mario + Rabbids? Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds or Friday the 13th? The choice is yours. Better yet, everyone who votes can claim a FREE eBook worth up to £15.99.”

“The awards, presented by none other than Assassin’s Creed’s Danny Wallace, take place on Nov 17 in London but before any of that happens, the Golden Joystick Awards need you to decide who deserves the ultimate accolade of a shiny, well, Golden Joystick. There are even four new categories this year on top of the usual highly contested Best PlayStation, Best Xbox, Best Nintendo and Ultimate Game of the Year accolades. For the first time you can choose your Best VR Game, eSports Team of the Year, Best Streamer/Broadcaster and the Still Playing Award for the game you just can’t quit.”

Here’s the Game of the Year 2017 nominations:

  • Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Dishonored 2
  • Destiny 2
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Monument Valley 2
  • Persona 5
  • PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
  • Resident Evil 7
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • What Remains of Edith Finch

You can vote for your favourite games from each category, here.

  1. Botw will almost CERTAINLY be game of the year. In fact it’s game of the century. I think I’ve spent more time on this game than any other. Can’t wait for dlc 2

  2. Here are my votes:
    Super Mario Odyssey
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
    Metroid Prime 4 (of course)
    Splatoon 2
Overwatch (I love it and still waiting for the Switch version)

  3. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

The lack of Nier: Automata on this list is disturbing. Looks like I’ll have to vote for Resident Evil 7: biohazard instead.

  4. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

    *Best Storytelling: NieR: Automata
    *Best Visual Design: LoZ: BotW
*Best Audio: Life is Strange: Before the Storm
*Best Gaming Performance: Kylie Brown (Rachel Amber, LiS: BtS)
*Best Indie Game: Friday the 13th: The Game
*Best Multiplayer Game: Friday the 13th: The Game
*Studio of the Year: Platinum (Nier Automata)
*Best VR Game: Resident Evil 7: biohazard; even though I didn’t play it in VR.
*Handheld/Mobile Game of the Year: Pokemon Sun & Moon; I really wish they wouldn’t put these into the same category.
*Nintendo Game of the Year: Metroid: Samus Returns; this was a tough one since it had to contend with LoZ: BotW.
*PlayStation Game of the Year: NieR: Automata
*Breakthrough Award: Ashly Burch; I wish she was voicing Chloe again for LiS’s prequel BtS but she was part of the 2016–17 video game voice actor strike, so she was replaced as Chloe. Least the new girl sounded very similar to her.
*Most Wanted Game: Death Stranding; This was a tough one. I had a choice between God of War 4, Metroid Prime 4, Spider-Man (2018), & Death Stranding.
*Ultimate Game of the Year: Resident Evil 7: biohazard; because NieR: Automata isn’t a damn choice. Fuckers…
