Mashable recently had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. During the interview a number of topics were brought up but the theme around the interview is how Nintendo continues to innovate with the products and games they bring to the market.
“We’re constantly looking to disrupt the industry. We’re constantly asking ourselves what can we do that’s differentiated, that the consumer wants but doesn’t know they want.”
“One thing that I love about our company is we always put innovation first,” he said. “We are always looking to take that risk.”
I feel like the next system might be centered around AR (Augmented Reality) and VR Combined with a Nintendo Switch 2 being the replacement for the Home Console and Handheld Console market for Nintendo.
Nintendo ReAlity and Nintendo Switch 2 would be interesting if they were separate devices.

And that’s what keeps Nintendo interesting and appealing. Sure, it isn’t always a slam dunk (I still hate the Wii). But they’re always thinking of new ways to play, and ways to reinvent their IP. If I want a standard run of the mill game, I have any other platform for that.
I just played 8 player local multiplayer bomberman last night on Switch. It was a blast. That’s the kind of thing Nintendo is great for.
In this sense, the Switch makes you able to play the game everywhere.
That’s what the Switch is different from the other consoles, because if you think to do a 8 local multiplayer with the xbox or ps it is impossible because you have to play inside the house.
That’s what the Switch can do than the other console.
More than that, the Switch is actually the console of choice for the PC gamer. He can get the definitive version of all 3rd party titles on the PC but he can’t take his games on the go.
Even though the switch only does that for Steam indie titles for now, With games like Doom and Wolfwnstein announced, the Switch would easily be a no brained for anyone who wants to take his games out with him.
I will answer to you that I preffer to play PC games on the Switch than the PC.
That’s why I’m hoping to see Overwatch on the Switch
Pushing the industry with innovative ideas / concepts compared to the standard lets beef up the capabilities only which seems to be the standard.
And to quote some people; “When Nintendo is strong, the gaming industry as a whole is doing better”
“that the consumer wants but doesn’t know they want.”” They need to stop this line of thinking. It’s pretty patronizing. Oh wait. This is Reggie. He’s good at patronizing people.
I didn’t know I wanted something like the DS & New 3DS XL & Wii U & Switch, until Nintendo made it. I can use the Joy-Cons with their advance motion controls to play Wii Virtual Console games like; Super Smash Bros. Brawl & Super Mario Galaxy & Golden Eye & Resident Evil 4 Wii & etc.
I never owned a Wii and got a back-catalog to catch up, but already play and prefer the 3DS version of Donkey Kong and Xenoblade Chronicles with their stereoscopic 3D and all.
While they are right at times when it comes to some hardware, most of the time they are dead wrong when it comes to software. It’s because of this thinking that we got such “gems” as Star Fox Zero, Metroid Prime: FedshitForce, Metroid: Other M. I’m sure there are others for other people but those are the ones that really irked me.
