Don’t Expect Ike Or Roy For Fire Emblem Warriors 1 DLC

Source Gaming have been hard at work as always translating the latest edition of Japanese publication Nintendo Dream. The magazine says that both Ike and Roy are unlikely to appear in Fire Emblem Warriors for the Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS as downloadable content. The article says they won’t make it unless there’s a sequel on the horizon, which will probably be dependant on sales.

  1. That’s… not exactly how you win new fans or please current ones. FE Warriors could have literally any unit from the series; name one legitimate reason why those two COULDN’T make it into this one.

        1. Yeah Lyn won that. I was talking about the last voting gauntlet. Sorry I mixed it. Anyway. Just take a look at the poll. Ike appears twice! If you add both he surpasses Lyn by little. Also Roy is second there as well…

      1. Lyn winning had likely to do with IS using their ingenious logic and splitting several characters into 2 seperate characters like counting ike’s votes they come up to around 51,555 about 1638 votes higher…

  2. I think they should have just concentrated on 1 game, and make DLC’s or maybe another game out of the rest of them.

    1. Yeah either way the decisions made for this game will likely result in interesting sales since if the game sells well despite this then maybe they really don’t need old school, non-marth fire emblem fans at all, not even a bit. I’d hope that wasn’t the case but oh well, best we lovers of things like tellius or jugdral just move on to better things I guess…

      1. The game has no characters that I really like, but I’m buying the game because it does feel like a good Warriors game.

      1. Well, since we have characters like Lyn that isn’t in the three primary games already, I’m not really sure why the DLC has to be limited to Awakening, Fates, or Shadow Dragon. We already have a character poll they could pull ideas from.

  3. Definitely not buying this now. What’s the point of making a mashup warriors game featuring FE without two of the most popular characters, which clearly everyone wanted?! They know damn well fans wanted these fucking characters, which is why they are addressing it now as “they won’t be in FEW 1”, yet they want to brag about this game featuring characters from across the entire FE series!

      1. “Marth isn’t really popular tbh”

        Dude…what!? How can you possibly say that? Marth is the face of Fire Emblem! Literally everyone that’s played the games knows who he is. They even gave us a Female-Marth named Lucina in Fire Emblem Awakening! What planet are you on?

        1. he kinda dropped off after awakening. its always ike and roy you hear about nowadays. and people would argue tikis more of an icon for fire emblem than marth. but this is just from what ive seen, i dunno

      2. Marth was given some spotlight in amiibo form in Fire Emblem Fates so it’s technically wrong to say he was “dropped off”. Sure he wasn’t referenced in the story but that could be because Fire Emblem Fates takes place before the original.
        Just because you see people raving over Roy and Ike doesn’t mean Marth has dropped in popularity, it’s just that at this point, Marth has become so much as staple that people consider him to be common-sense but I promise you that if Marth was not in this game or the next Smash Bros, there would be a ton of rioting.

  4. Doesn’t bother me. I’m not a fan of Ike (at all) and although I like Roy in Smash Bros, that’s about as far as my interest in his character goes lol. However I could see this decision changing if there’s enough backlash.

      1. If Roy and Ike were not included in Smash Bros, I guarantee they would not be as popular as they are and score so high in the polls.
        Hell, Smash Bros Melee is regarded as the reason Fire Emblem even took off in the west because of Marth and Roy’s Inclusion. Like I already said, they are popular because of Smash Bros, not because of their own games.

      1. I’m sorry but I highly disagree on that. Even with the support from Super Smash Bros, Fire Emblem was headed down a road of disaster. Yes I do agree Smash Bros did get the ball rolling for Fire Emblem and for a while it did last but by the time Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon came out, the sales were declining and the series just wasn’t doing that well.
        This was until Fire Emblem Awakening came in, that game single-handedly brought the franchise back from the brink of death. Not only was it extremely well-praised, it also surpassed the sales of any Fire Emblem Game before it and because of that, the series went from being a dying corpse to 1 of Nintendo’s biggest hits and is now on the same level as the likes of Zelda, Metroid, and Animal Crossing. Considering Fire Emblem Awakening was set to be the last game in the franchise, that’s very impressive.
        You can’t tell me that Smash Bros was what was generating sales for the franchise when you consider how badly it was falling.

      2. Did you even read my response? Yes I know Smash Bros got the ball rolling but it clearly wasn’t going anywhere.
        Also for your information, Fire Emblem Awakening came out long before Smash Bros 4 did so Smash Bros clearly had nothing to do with it. If anything, Smash Bros 4 took advantage of Fire Emblem Awakening’s Sales.

  5. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

    It was bad enough the game was being limited to three FE entries but even the DLC is now being limited to them. If you want the old school fans to buy this game along with the new school fans, you gotta throw them more than just 3 characters from the original Fire Emblem. Koei Tecmo AND Nintendo are pretty stupid for pissing on the old school FE fans. Least Awakening & Fates allowed the old school fans to play the newest entries old school with perma-death & the difficulties above casual mode as options while the people that hated perma-death, me being one of them, could turn that shit off.

    1. That’s literally what they’ve been doing for the past 4+ years. Why do you think a lot of the long-term fans hate today’s Fire Emblem? Because Nintendo doesn’t focus on those games anymore and only concentrates on the new.
      Nintendo is a business before anything and they are going to focus on what makes the most money, like it or hate it, Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates have made them a lot more money than the others have.

      1. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

        I know that (the second paragraph.) It’s why I’m no longer a fan of Nintendo itself, or any video game company for that matter, & only care about the games. I’m a consumer first now because being a fan of a company is for suckers.

  6. First we get a lot of female characters in Hyrule warriors over Mikau, and now this. Maybe I should stay away from the ‘Warriors’ series. The game doesn’t have a marriage feature anyway.

    1. Why does Nintendo keep giving us reasons to call them hypocrites?
      I don’t want to call them hypocrites but they’re making it really hard for me NOT to.

        1. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

          Wrong. It’s on them both. Koei Tecmo is the developer but the IP belongs to Nintendo. They have last say on what goes in & what doesn’t go in. Just like Ninty had last say with Hyrule Warriors & Mario + Rabbids. If Nintendo is psycho about “protecting” their IPs when a fan game is made, you’d have to be a fool to think they wouldn’t have some kind of hand in what happens with their IPs when a 3rd party is handling it.

        2. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

          No one is innocent!

  7. Well I’m certainly less interested in this game now… Any chance they’ll somehow surprise us and include Ike and Roy in the main game? Or maybe a second batch of dlc?
