Nintendo Fans Say Goodbye To Miiverse By Posting Tributes

The curtain will close on Miiverse on 11th October, and Nintendo has created a final community for fans to bid their farewells to the online space before it’ll be gone for good.

It has been listed as a ‘special community’ which provides players a space to share their memories, and some users are getting rather sentimental. A few fans have even taken the time to sketch up some tributes, you can find some of them below:

  1. In its current state…Nintendo could just go to Microsoft and say: Hey…yo we have no online experiences in gerneral…can we connect Xbox Live with our devices? Let’s be honest…no online, no networks, no groups…no apps on Switch…It would be a big improvement and great for both companies.

    1. Absolutely horrendous branding decision. Also not a particularly fair comparison. The Switch’s intended online service hasn’t launched yet, but at this point is mostly complete. Why would you compare a service nobody’s seen yet to another company’s service (on a mostly failed machine)?

      1. You think so? We all know Xbox Live is heading to Switch in a few weeks for Minecraft. A gaming network is something that should enable me to play online with friends. Nintendo’s attempts so far are a joke and close to what we had in the original Xbox and PS2 days. I actually can’t even play a Splatfest usually because I get 8/10 times an error to update my system, while everything is up to date…because Nintendos servers can’t handle Splatoon 2 in Europe and no it sold not as well as in Japan here.

No groups, no real voice chat, no messages, shut down social network..no good api for Third Parties because online is usually added after release or only against random people like in Fifa 18. Yes I know it when i bought my Switch…but back then I believed Nintendo would add at least the Wii U level of a network by the end of the year. So far I see Nintendo shutting down services and thats just weird. Maybe every dev like Microsoft needs to integrate their own services now and we’ll see Origin, Battle.net, Xbox Live, Uplay and many more services to add friends to your game on Switch. But I think this is just rediculous in this in 2017.

The community is a temporary one so that’s the expiration for the community, not Miiverse itself.

Good bye, Miiverse. You were great in the beginning. But the countless times of wrongful reportings, deletions, & that stupid update that limited the amount of posts/comments you could make, the limit of how many comments a post could have, etc eventually damaged you beyond repair. You’ve been having a slow, painful death ever since. Your suffering will be over soon.

I’m tempted to shout a big “fuck you!” to the badmins on the last day as they are one of the reasons Miiverse sucked. Maybe even insult that stupid update that ruined it further & put it on death’s door step. Or I might not do nothing at all & just make a “smile & wave, boys” quote on the last day. lol

That will be my violation goal.
