Ed Boon Discusses The Possibility Of Bringing Injustice 2 To Switch

Injustice 2, the critically acclaimed fighting title, hasn’t been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, but GameSpot recently caught up with NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon to discuss the possibility of the game coming to Nintendo’s latest platform. Boon states that it is entirely possible but it would take some compromise.

“Yeah, I think at the end of the day you can make almost any game… there are inevitable compromises, but you know, you can make some version of Injustice on the Atari 2600,” he told GameSpot. “It’s not going to be great, but I bet you can make something.”

“Yeah, actually, I do,” he said when asked if he has interest in exploring Switch games. “It is a pretty different hardware architecture; it’s not like you can go from a PlayStation 4 to a Switch really easily. So I think we would need to set up something in terms of an external team. I know on the art team, we have enough people to do three console SKUs, and that would be something we’d need to work out.

“From the game player’s perspective, would it be fun to play Injustice on [Switch]? I do think it would,” he said. “You could have tournaments, everyone comes over with their own system and you can have whole structured tournaments and parallel gameplay and all that.”

  1. Glad I waited to get this. Even though I have a PS4 I’m only getting the games I know won’t come out for the Switch like Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. But fighting games like this and Dragonball Fighter Z I’ll wait for the Switch version to hopefully come out. I’d much rather have these games on a console/handheld hybrid even at the cost of a minor downgrade to the framerate and overall visuals.

    1. Same here even though I couldn’t resist preordering the limited edition of dbfighterz with the Goku statue for the PS4. I’ll cancel in a heartbeat if a switch version was announced tho lol

    1. I mean, I’m all for hellboy In this game. But he is dark horse comics. Not DC. So is injustice now just open to call comic characters except marvel? Lol

  2. Have yet to play an injustice game. But if the first one was on Vita a generally unsuccessful platform aside from japan then this one on switch has way more potential to sell imo. Maybe not in huge droves but still worth the effort I think

  3. Didn’t the first Injustice come to Wii U? Either way I’ll definitely buy this and all the DLC if it comes to Switch.

  4. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

    I’m assuming Ed Boon is still involved with the Mortal Kombat series.
