Nielsen Reveals The Most Anticipated Games For Holiday 2017

Data firm Nielsen has revealed which games are the most sought after this Christmas. They have included multiformat games as well as games for each individual format.

“Nielsen measures anticipation based on awareness, purchase interest and consumer rating, among other key metrics. This gives a percent value (called Game Rank) reflecting “how strong the overall anticipation level is for the title, relative to the pre-release anticipation levels of all previous titles that released on the platform(s),” the company explained in its methodology. 6,000 gamers have been surveyed between August 21st and September 23rd to collect this data.”

  1. Interesting how the Nintendo titles have the highest anticipation ratings (with the exception of COD). Also, Why is UMoon more anticipated than USun? I didn’t think they were that different.

    1. So I used to think that was weird too, but I’ve realized that its not ALWAYS people wanting to play the same game over and over. There’s a new batch of kids turning 13 every year and for them, it’s really only the first or second time playing the rehashed game. Eventually, we age out of the target audience.

  2. Mine is easily Mario Odyssey.

    I was going to buy the new COD and Battlefront II, but the betas didn’t impress me at all. So I’m just gonna skip them.

    I’ll still be picking up Mario, FE Warriors, Xenoblade, and maybe Doom and Skyrim on switch. But it looks like I’m done for the rest of the year on PC/PS4/3DS. Still a bit iffy on Sonic Forces.

  3. King Kalas X3 {I only buy exclusives that interest me on Switch. For everything else that interests me, there is PS4.}

    I can’t choose between Assassin’s Creed Origins or Super Mario Odyssey as my most anticipated game of Holiday 2017, so they are tied for me. But after being let down by every Super Mario game after Super Mario Sunshine & Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, I probably should be anticipating Odyssey more than Origins. Then again, Origins is changing up the formula that Assassin’s Creed has been using for 10 years. Yep. I can’t choose between them… D:

    1. To be honest, your best bet is with Mario Odyssey (yeah might be biased here), but I have not been impressed with some mario games other than mario kart and 3d world on Wii U. I feel that Mario Odyssey will be fantastic, especially by looking at the gameplay in comparison to Assassin’s Creed Origins. I also can believe without a doubt that Assassin’s Creed Origins might have some pre-order bonus bs included with it and some other cash grab stuff that will drive the gameplay experience down. At least if your going to fork over $60, I’d much rather do it on a game that has no dlc or pre-order content involved, because I at least know that the game will have everything included in it rather than locked behind a paywall.

        Anticipation wise, I can’t choose, but purchase wise, I’m getting both games. Already got the gold edition of Origins preordered from the PS Store. Just waiting for Super Mario Odyssey to go live on the Switch’s eShop since I got money on the eShop ready to buy it. Was gonna get these two games & Fire Emblem Warriors but I spent too much on PS4 games so just the two. FEW will have to wait for next month.

        Wait. Not gold edition. The… deluxe edition? *checks* Yeah. The Deluxe Edition. After not seeing much difference between Deluxe & Gold, I went with the cheaper Deluxe so I don’t have to buy season pass later since I know I’ll get it eventually. Least this way I get a bonus. (I like preorder bonuses sometimes, so I don’t have an issue with them if they are something I want.)
