Sony Music Entertainment, which has its own publishing label which is titled Unties, has announced today that its bringing a game to the Nintendo Switch. The game is titled Tiny Metal developed by Area35 and is best described as indie Advance Wars. Tiny Metal will arrive on a variety of platforms on November 21st.
“With the growth of game development environments, high quality game development has become possible even in small scale environments, and the evolution of digital publishing has made it easier to distribute developed titles to users worldwide. On the other hand, with a mixed bag of titles overflowing the market, there are also situations where interesting titles are buried without being noticed.
At Unties, we dig up the masterpieces buried in those situations, and support them so that more users notice and pick them up. We spread information about excellent games and sell titles for multiple platforms.
The name “Unties” comes from the thought “to unleash the excellent talents of unique game creators all over the world” and “setting creators free from the various shackles of game publishing, named from the intention of realizing publishing that is freedom of production without restraints.”
Thanks to those who sent this in.
||They are so scared of us that instead of copying our sacred machine, they develop insults instead on it…||
Too their defence hasn’t Ninty come with any Advance Wars in years. People are starving.
||Better to starve than surrender to the enemy…||
But… this isn’t surrendering from our side, more like Sony’s. It’s like they want a piece of the Switch Pie.
||And some of our cattle will give some of their resources to them…||
OUR cattle. Not THEIR cattle! Moo!
I… I… don’t understand… Moo…
Oh, it was a respond to the Commander. Aaaahh. This WordPress-app made it look like it was a direct response to me. Lol I was so confused.
In fact this is Advance Wars 5… Developed by a little team of Sony
Haha, if you would put it that way; though I wouldn’t disagree much.
No in fact I don’t disagree but this is the second Advance wars developed by another company.
What if… They developed this game for understand how it works, developing a game on, the Nintendo Switch?
||That’s exactly what their mission is so that they can report back to their leaders…||
Understood
I remember back in the retro days seeing Sony Imagesoft on many NES SNES games. I remember thinking, “wow, the Sony name on Nintendo games”.
NES and SNES games*
WHAT’S A NES SNES?!?!??! lol
Hm. Interesting. Not my type of game but cool for those that do like Advance Wars type of games.

I dig this kinda news. I hope they’re as supportive to these indie devs as they say. I also like this cross-pollination between competitors we’re seeing lately with cross platform multiplayer, indie guest stars and such.
Now Microsoft, bring Cuphead.
With the way things are going between Microsoft and Nintendo, I think it’s possible
Cuphead would be great on the switch, and so would Ori. Doubt itll ever happen though.
This is basically telling me that Sony is NOT considering a new Handheld and have now just gone full Home Console.
I think it’s good as they’ll still earn money from game sells without having that extra loss from console sales. Although this does mean SuperMetalDave will be crying for the next few years until the PS5, Xbox 4 and Nintendo Switch 2 are released.
“This is basically telling me that Sony is NOT considering a new Handheld and have now just gone full Home Console.”
How is this any kind of indication for that? Sony’s publishing label did not develop this game, they’re just publishing it. And it’s not Sony Computer Entertainment either, it’s Sony Music Entertainment, who are not responsible for the Playstation brand.
I don’t think we’ll see a Sony handheld again anytime soon, but I don’t see how this piece of news is related to any of that, in any way.
A future Sony handheld is indeed bleak, but If theres a company bold (stupid) enough to do it, it would most likely be Sony. They seem to take a lot of risks, and honestly, thats what I like the most about them.
Something about the visuals rub me the wrong way. Doesn’t match the gameplay, in my opinion.
I’m… i’m confused.
I’m a little disappointed by the lack of jokes on this article so here’s one.
Switch owners: “Look! A gift from Sony!”

Ohhhhh! Horsie! Pretty! :p
Still waiting for the Trojan Horse that is Minecraft: Switch Edition to open up & release it’s little vermin. lol
Funny how everyone always said Nintendo should just give up consoles and publish on PS and XBox, now Sony and Microsoft are both publishing games on a Nintendo console.
You mean all of the “can’t wait to play Zelda on my PS4” comments? I dunno… give these people some credit, they predicted Nintendo’s DOOM probably since the PS2/GC/XB generation… and I couldn’t wait for something that isn’t gonna happen, either…
The last game I ever saw from Sony was Wheel of Fortune for the SEGA CD.
But… why would Sony’s music department launch a publishing label for video games? This seems so random, haha.
||An insult as I suggested earlier…||
It does seem strange that the game wasnt published by SIE.
Hate to be that guy, but it seems like Sony wants to advertise from within (ALA MS with Minecraft.) It still doesnt seem like an insult. More like a Trojan horse.
||A Trojan horse, the equivalent of a Luminothian crystal, is a big insult…||
