    1. I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a “hater.” I am legitimately excited for the game itself, just I was mistakenly under the impression that a few of these characters (namely Owain and Navarre) were secret characters in the base game, so to find out they are actually dlc is kind of disappointing.

  1. I was happy about the DLC in the first place but after seeing that they are locking characters behind a paywall which are in the game at launch is shitty. Hyrule Warriors gave them for free (Wizzro etc etc) and then introduced new characters not already in the game as paid DLC.

  2. Eh, despite me liking a good chunk of these characters they put in the DLC, I kinda just don’t wanna buy the game anymore. I’m gonna pass and just wait for the next main Fire Emblem.

    1. Sorry for ya. If you look at Hyrule Warriors, I see zero complaints from them. I understand that you and a couple of users are in the minorities of not supporting third party games (Koei Tecmo is the publisher of Fire Emblem Warriors in Japan).

      1. No, I definitely support the third parties that come to Switch, but FE Warriors just lost my interest. From what I’ve seen it’s just Hyrule but not as good and with less polish. Obvious lackluster roster aside, it just doesn’t look very fun to play, so I think I’ll save my $60+ for the next third party game.

                      1. Eh, I think the game looks a little unpolished for a big new Switch game. Kinda ugly, there’s that whole Resolution or Performance thing that doesn’t need to be a thing, animations don’t look right sometimes, a lot of characters have the same animations, the character roster only services a specific group of fans, some of the voice acting is spotty, and that’s before we get to the fact that it’s yet another Warriors game, as if enough of those aren’t coming out yearly. Yeah, just not into it.

                              1. Said it doesn’t look fun, I actually haven’t played it. But with reviews saying it’s pretty much just Hyrule Warriors but lesser, I’m gonna go ahead and pass.

              1. 9 new history maps is gonna be a lot of new playable content. To me that’s worth the price alone. But considering how much you’re getting here, I’d say it’s more than worth the money. I couldn’t even keep up with the HW DLC, and it’ll probably be the same case here.

              2. For Fates I’m dissapointed about putting Oboro instead of Felicia, Effie or Orochi (even if I don’t like the Hoshido characters)

Shadow Dragon I’m ok but I want also Merric cuz he’s the best mage in the game to me.

                Awakening it’s ok to me.

              3. Well, im looking forward to the game, But, i guess i won’t have enough to get super mario odyssey on e-shop if i buy fire emblem warriors. It sucks that DLC characters are not free at launch.

JUST like Hyrule Warriors: every character you can unlock in the base game was revealed before the game even released, so no hidden characters this time around, either. Of course Tharja is DLC. I guess they had two choices: Tharja in the base game with Lyndis as DLC or Lyndis in the base game with Tharja as DLC. They chose the latter. I would have liked Tharja to be in the base game, not paid DLC, along with Lyndis. But since that’s not the case, I’m partly glad they chose to have Lyndis in the base game. Then again, I expect her to be like Chrom & Lissa’s sister in Awakening: an end game character that barely has any effect on the game’s story. Celica will probably be the same way. So either way, Lyndis is still gonna feel a bit like DLC. (I hope I’m wrong. Either way, I’ll find out next month.)

                1. I don’t think Hyrule Warriors had hidden characters either, did it? I thought everyone who would be playable was shown off in a Direct like a month before- that’s how I learned Ghirahim was going to be playable which instantly sold me on it because he’s the best Zelda villain in the past few years.

I wish Kaze from Fates was put into FE Warriors- he’s one of my favorite units, and since he’s available in all three branches of fate, he gets a lot of story. Warriors could have benefited from a ninja character, methinks.

Yeah. No surprise unlocks in Hyrule Warriors. In fact, each character in the game was revealed throughout the last year of the game’s development.

A Warriors/Musou game without a ninja character does make the game feel lesser.

Anyway, other than Lissa, is there any other character in the game with twin tails? (I would have killed to have Severa in this game!)

                1. I’m surprised she wasn’t, being one of the 4 child units from Awakening to win the popularity vote. On top of that, it would have been interesting to see her and her mother Cordelia fighting together in a co-op mode. Or they could have gone the Fates route and put her in under her alias of Selena.

Lissa & Elise: two characters with the worst style of twintails. *sigh*

              7. I would buy a Hyrule warriors Switch port before I ever go near this, what’s even worse is they’re making people pay for characters that are already present in the damn game rather than allowing people to unlock them like you could in Hyrule Warriors. This dlc is lazy as fuck, even by KT’s standards, which is saying a lot tbh.

Just wait. Per Nintendo’s advice, they’ll claim some of the characters in the DLC are free bonuses & it’s the other content you’re paying for.
