WayForward Has Provided First Details On The Shantae: Half-Genie Hero “Friends To The End” Expansion

WayForward has been hard at work with supporting Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, even though the game has been out for a good while now. The company has posted a Kickstarter update that has revealed first details on the next expansion to the game, which is called “Friends To The End”. The expansion “takes place chronologically in the middle of Shantae’s storyline”. According to WayForward, “this new mode would be considered ‘official cannon’, and fills in a part of the narrative that we, as the audience, were previously not witness to”. The expansion’s contents include “a brand new mode with three new heroes, a whole new story, and altered memories (revamped versions of existing levels) to explore and conquer. The icing on the cake is a new final level, and a showdown against Nega-Shantae”.

Nega-Shantae is the main antagonist of the expansion’s story. WayForward says that “Shantae has been turned to evil by the foul Risky Boots by way of a polarity-swapping machine, and is reborn as Nega-Shantae! Sky, Bolo, and Rottytops must enter Shantae’s mind in order to rescue her consciousness from the ‘Nightmare Realm’; a series of twisted memories designed to swallow Shantae whole”.

The expansion has finished development and is being prepped for submission to Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Valve right now. Those who backed the Kickstarter will get it for free. Everyone else will have to pay for it. The good news is that you won’t have to wait long. WayForward expects the content to arrive in time for the holidays.
