Japan: Call Of Duty WW2 Dethrones Super Mario Odyssey This Week

It’s Wednesday which means it is time to find out how the various software releases and hardware have performed this week in Japan. 1. I find any fps game a bit tricky without the convenience of a good gaming mouse, more in a twitch shooter. But I would love it on the Switch as well.

  2. I find this odd. This is a game, sure, but the Japanese play as a force that were their enemy at the time, dropped them two nuclear bombs and annihilated two of their cities?

    1. It wasn’t an unjustified attack, it was a bit overboard but as they say all is fair in love and war. If they wouldn’t play the game because they have to play as a historical enemy than they’d be kinda overly sensitive. That’s like white christains not playing far cry 5 because the enemies happen to be white extremists Christians or me not playing GTA because they got black people in gangs.

    2. I was kinda thinking the same thing. WW2 shooters overall have almost exclusively shown the war from a western perspective. I wonder if there’s any desire among Japanese players to play on the side of Japan.

  3. I’m never impressed by things like this. There are ~5.5 million PS4 owners in Japan and only ~2 million Switch owners. That means about 3.06% of PS4 owners bought CoD this week while 8.41% of Switch owners bought Mario (nearly triple). I’ll let you decide which of those is truly more impressive.

    1. Not to mention CoD is multiplatform and depends on that to “sell”. Imagine if it was a system exclusive at this point and everybody is already sick of CoD at this point. It would flop FAST and Mario would’ve easily beaten CoD. Hell, GTA5 on just 2 platforms beat COD’s best selling records in less than 24 hours in 2013.
