Miiverse Has Officially Gone Offline

After 5 years of activity, Nintendo has shut down Miiverse. Users who try to access Miiverse will be greeted with a 115-5004 error code on both Wii U and 3DS. Regardless of the console you use, the error’s description reads “thank you for using Miiverse. Miiverse service has ended”. Confirmation of the end of Miiverse came via Twitter, so we’ve included a couple of tweets down below.

  1. Also, are they gonna remove the Miiverse icon from the 3DS and enable in-game screen capture via Game Notes? It shows the screen when paused by Home Button but you can’t save it. It should be possible to save it that way.

Nope. It’s gonna be left on the 3DS to rot… and annoy people like me as it reminds us of what Miiverse COULD have been. I wish I could move it to my folder for unused apps.

  2. At least I was able to back up my posts, yeahs, and album images.

BUT NOW I HAVE NO MEANS OF SCREENSHOTS FOR WII U GAMES! And I haven’t even beaten Splatoon. I was hoping to take a snapshot of the final boss’ demise, but I can’t now.

Does Wii U’s homebrew have a screenshot feature?

    1. It works with Virtual Console games, but some Wii U games have this function blocked, such as Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Pinball Arcade. On the first, it appears a warning saying that it doesnt have any picture to upload and on Pinball Arcade, it blacks out the screen a bit before entering the Home Menu, so the screenshot will be just a black picture.

Both games even on Miiverse you couldnt post screenshots.

On Wii U, screenshots never were tied to Miiverse, you can upload to any site you like, but Nintendo Image Share makes it a bit easier.

      1. Then I guess nothing of value was lost.

And I think there are some Miiverse videos in YouTube for museum purposes.

    1. Definitely. Then there was the shutdown of the YouTube community because of ‘off-topic posts’. I’m not sure how you can be any more off-topic than other communities when YouTube has pretty much everything on it.
There were so many times where someone ran out of posts mid-conversation and my Pokemon trade deal was ruined.

A shared limit of 30 posts AND comments? I don’t think so. That’s some idiotic bullshit the idiots at Nintendo came up with.

  3. …..wasted potential. Smdh…just a gawd damn waste.
Well, here’s to tomorrow. & what exciting endeavors await.
Like in January 2018 when Nintendo unveils their Long Awaited Online Service.

Who knows? Maybe they’ll bring the Miiverse back with a lot more options.

      1. Well ok. I will now get 60 points.

But I think this Miiverse close is not randomly. I think Nintendo is preparing something for the full online feature.

Without the oppression of the badmins, a lot of people finally were able to let out a lot of negative energy built up over the last 5 years from their overly strict bullshit. *shrug* Least me & a few people I hung out with for WWE events were able to share our friend codes with each other. Some day we’ll restart our WWE discussions during Raw, Smackdown, & PPVs somewhere else. A place that isn’t ruled with an iron fist by total morons.
