GameStop Has Suspended Its PowerPass Used Game Rental Service

GameStop’s new initiative to have a games rental service has been paused for the time being. The company said in a statement that it has identified some limitations to the service so has halted the service. Speculation has come about suggesting that the company’s outdated computer system isn’t capable of handling the new program. Those who already subscribed to the service will be refunded. Here’s the statement.

We have elected to temporarily pause the roll out of the new PowerPass subscription service, based on a few program limitations we have identified. We feel this is the right thing to do for now to ensure we are able to provide our guests an exceptional service.

    1. Enjoy the perpetual wait.

Seriously, Gamefly is bullshit. Being the only default option doesn’t automatically make you good. I miss Blockbuster……..

  1. One word: GAY!

I guess Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft just expect us to buy their games without knowing in foresight whether or not they’re good.

      1. Blockbuster was king when it came to video game rentals, and now people can’t do that at Gamestop. People now have to pay full price for a game they may regret purchasing.

Such a cheap move on Gamestop’s part.

But I bet you just buy the first game you see.

        1. Look man, ur original comment made no sense to me when I read it… like I don’t at all mind your opinion… it just didn’t make sense. Thx for the clear up firstly, and secondly, if I had the luxury to buy the first game I saw when I walked into a store, I probably would… but I don’t so I have to select which game to save up for. I play the demos if there is one, I’ll play on a friends console or PC, I’ll look at positive and negative reviews, I’ll usually wait for a sale, and generally I don’t buy bad games… of course this makes me miss out on some good games but at that point I just have to wait for years until it goes for 20$

          1. I haven’t rented games since Samba de Amigo for Wii, but Gamefly has to do better.

Good thing I stick to franchises I actually care about (and are fortunately still around).

            1. I haven’t rented a game. If I want a game I’ll buy it if I dont and just want to try it. I definitely agree with sticking to your franchises but I am not afraid to experiment as I tried Assasin’s Creed 2 and liked it a lot

              1. Good luck with your interactive drinks coaster or getting your money back.

Maybe this is why people who bought Sonic 2006 are still salty over the game.

                1. … never been mad on a purchase of a game… once again I only buy games after either trying them or having a trust in the series like zelda or Mario… closest thing to dissapointment that I’ve ever had was a soccer game for ds which I didn’t buy, it was a gift from my parents out of the bargain bin

    1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

      ||Scan indicates there is nothing remotely homosexual/happy/glad about this pathetic service, illogical statement…||
