Today has been a big day for fans of Super Bomberman R. A giant update has been released by Konami, and it contains a lot of new additions. The “Grand Prix” Battle Mode has been added, along with 10 new characters that you can get in the shop. That wasn’t all that came with the update, so we’ve included the patch notes down below, along with the official trailer that Konami released to promote the new battle mode.
- The new Battle Mode “Grand Prix” has been added.
- The Grand Prix mode offers the following new features from normal battles.
- Each battle is 2 rounds and the team with the most total points wins.
- Each character has different power-ups.
- When you lose a life in the Grand Prix mode, you are resurrected after a certain time instead of turning into a Miso Bomb.
- Soft blocks will start falling after a certain time has elapsed.
- You can play with the following two rules.
- Crystal – Compete points by collecting the crystals in the stage.
- Basic Bomber – Compete points by defeating the opponent team.
- The Bomberman Bros. each have different individual characteristics but can equip a cartridge to gain features and special abilities of other characters.
- Up to 6 Nintendo Switch can be connected in the Grand Prix mode for a network battle.
- The Grand Prix mode offers the following new features from normal battles.
- 10 new characters are available in the shop.

- Reiko Bomber
- Shiori Fujisaki Bomber
- Jehuty Bomber
- Anubis Bomber
- Dracula Bomber

- The Bomber Planet World can be accessed when beating the Story Mode in Standard Mode.
- Two new Battle Stages for Standard Mode are available in the shop.

- Castlevania Series
- Gradius Series
- Silent Hill Series

- The performance of Belmont Bomber, Vic Viper Bomber and Pyramid Head Bomber’s special abilities have been adjusted.
- The punch and kick controls have been slightly adjusted.
- The camera work has been slightly adjusted.
- Fixed other various small bugs.

Remember when people said the game was overpriced?
No. 1, 2 Switch was overpriced. This game falls under that “who cares” category.
Obviously there’s people who care about Super Bomberman R if Konami is still updating it…

Yeah, I thought it was a pretty good game. It’s definitely 10 times better than Bomberman Act Zero.

1, 2 Switch isn’t a game… it’s the most “who cares”-y thing ever made.
It’s a fucking last minute tech demo they cooked up that should’ve been a bundle software but of course, you have plenty of IDIOTS buying this obviously lazy flash game. Maybe if it had been Warioware which it should’ve been, it would’ve sold/praised considerably well.

They seem to have done the right business model. No Microtransactions or unnecessary DLCs, just a standard price game with support and added content over time.
Best Buy has it for $25 on Black Friday. Tempting after all this support.
Also Disgaea will be $20. Decisions, decisions…

Wow, I’m honestly surprised by the continued support, especially since the game came out almost a year ago to only mixed reviews.
I haven’t played in months, but perhaps a revisit is in order.
I’m surprised they even care to update this game and I almost forgot this exists. Still not buying it because FUCK KONAMI.
While I do agree with the f*ck Konami, this game has had some real love from the developers from Hudson, and I think of them and their job when people doesn’t buy this. It’s a “tveegget sverd” as we say in Norwegian. Pay them and Konami wins; don’t pay and those poor developers doesn’t get their salary.

I have played Bomberman R in a party at my home and it was a blast, everyone enjoyed , we played in 6 person, so crazy amazing!
