Takahashi Would Like To See Xenoblade Chronicles X On Nintendo Switch

Xenoblade Chronicles X will be remembered by Wii U owners but there’s a lot of people out there who haven’t had a chance to play the game. Siliconera caught up with Tetsuya Takahashi, Monolith Soft President, who said, “Personally speaking, there are times I feel like playing Xenoblade Chronicles X and think about how nice it would be to play it on the Nintendo Switch. Of course that will depend on demand and such, but I will think about it while discussing future plans with Nintendo.”

      ||Indeed, they also need to create more music for it, especially deleting that horrible NLA theme, oozing with light-waves, disgusting…||

  1. I’d love to see the first Xenoblade Chronicles on the Switch, you know since it was impossible to get a physical copy of it on the Wii thanks to gamestop! Didn’t want the 3ds version because it lacked the Japanese audio the wii had.

    1. I disagree. It’s far from being horrible. The story is bad but I barely cared since exploring the planet, combat, and mechs were all soooo awesome. Way more to do and mess around with versus the first game. I can’t get over the mechs either.

    2. I actually loved the mechs, it reminded me of both Xenosaga and and Xenogears.
Kinda wish they would use a mixed combat system of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenogears (the super combo button press system).

    1. A lot less than the original version considering you needed 15GB of extra downloads to make the game look and run better. Switch is powerful enough that you wouldn’t need that, and it would probably be able to push it to 1080p as well.

      1. The download didn’t have much to do with power, rather it was a way to circumvent the relatively slow disc read speed when loading commonly used resources. If those same downloads are needed/beneficial on Switch will depend on the comparative read speed of the Switch cartridges and the internal memory/microsd cards.

As for 1080p I agree it could handle that, though there are several other things they could do instead – such as improve the rendering so the entire image is a solid true 720p even through fog and other transparent things, or maybe simply improved draw distance settings.

      2. Not quite. The 15 GB were only there to speed up loading, since loading data from flash storage is faster than loading data from disc. It had nothing to do with performance or aesthetics. Since the Switch doesn’t use discs any more, such a download indeed probably wouldn’t be necessary anymore.

      1. Well of course my comment was my personal opinion, a piece of music cant be objectively bad. So what are u talking about?
I think its a piece of shit, I muted it every time I had to go to the city, and its an area that u have to visit a lot, so I really hate it, and lots of people hate it also. Its shit, that u have to listen very often

  2. Am I really the only person that actually like Xenoblade Chronicles X? Sure, the story wasn’t all that great, but I thought just about everything else was greatly improved over Xenoblade Chronicles. I’d say this game deserves to have more people play it

    1. No I think it’s better than the first game overall in regards to what you can do, customize, unlock, explore, and combat. It has a worse story but it’s literally better in every other way to the first game imo. I do like the first game and it’s themes but X shares some of the same themes and you can easily dismiss the story and just be a person exploring an awesome planet!

  3. I could go for it on Switch. Thanks to Miiverse being dead, most of the post-game is gone anyway, not to mention it made collection quests way easier like if you needed certain monster parts you could just buy them if you had enough credits.

And if a port is done, PLEASE fix the field tests to get the Skell license- the Curator portion where you need to collect certain collectibles that appear randomly was NOT fun and came down to luck.

  4. X gets unnecessary hate for being overshadowed by 1’s story and character driven narrative when, in reality, X is a much better game than the first. I’m prepared to argue about it too. Lol bring it on. You can’t logically argue that the first was a better game.

    1. Agreed! It’s not like the story in the first game is revolutionary either. It’s just way more competent and characters are likable. Which is important in an rpg but so is the actual gameplay and that’s something X does with such ambition, variety, robustness. When you compare them AS GAMES than, ya, X has moooore going for it. For all its one of its faults, it hits back with 3 or so awesone features you’re glad they added that it more than makes up for the shortcomings. Imo I agree that 1st game is good, do prefer story and characters but I put way more time into X with way more to do that I enjoyed.

  5. I’d love Xenoblade Chronicles X on Switch, but they’d definitely have to implement a lot of fixes.

Ability to switch party members without having to find them.
Have non-active party members level up.
    Fix the small text.
    Redesign the blood lobster quest.
Fix issues with quests and POI not appearing on the map.
Make the Mia quest a little less obtuse.
Make the collectathon quests a little more bearable (maybe make items easier to find),
    Be able to exit missions.
SPOILER — Be able to exit from point of no return during final boss — SPOILER

  6. An excellent game that could be far more explored, such a wasted potential. At the ending, you wish to play more, but you have nothing worth of it (besides some hard to earn skells and stuff). Some DLCs for this game would be great, but monolith just stopped.

  7. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King

Meh. I’d rather get Xenoblade Chronicles in HD with the stuff the 3DS version had instead. (Of course, they’d need to revamp it a bit so you can unlock the music tracks & character models in another way.) Of course, it’d be nice to get both games on Switch for the ones that do want X.

    1. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King

Oh & new items & quests added would be nice for XC. An ultimate weapon & armor for all the characters would be awesome, too. New Game Plus needs to be revamped, too. It’d be nice to carry over all the weapons, armor, & items while also NOT carrying over the levels. (New Game+ was ruined by the fact you were overpowered for every consecutive playthrough since characters carried on conversations related to the guy they were fighting so you missed out on some story if you beat the enemies and/or boss too quickly.)
