Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Is Getting An Update On December 20th

Those of you who own Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Nintendo Switch will be pleased to hear that there’s an update coming for the massive JRPG. Tetsuya Takahashi who is the General Director for the game has announced the following will be available on December 20th.

  • if you watch the “Something in Common” (Chapter One: Encounters) cutscene in the Event Theatre, then return to the game, a glitch will make the camera sway and it will stay like that until you restart the game. If you happen to save, then you will be stuck in swaying camera hell. Therefore, if you happen to watch the cutscene, make sure not to save, and restart the game instead (even if that means losing progress);
  • if you get the quest item Healing Herb (English name TBC) for one of the quests in the Gormott Province at 12:00, then it will not be added to the Quest Log (basically preventing you from completing the quest);
  • if you get the quest item Pure White Helmet (English name TBC) for one of the quests in the Gormott Province at 7:00, then it will not be added to the Quest Log (basically preventing you from completing the quest);
  • various other bugs.
  • Easy Mode will be added to the Tiger! Tiger! mini-game
  • pressing the X button will immediately bring you to the map of the area you’re currently in, on the Skip Travel screen;
  • improvements will be made to the mini-map overlay (by pressing the L stick), improving the visibility of your surroundings.

Speaking of the mini-map, an update to be released next year alongside the set of additional quests(in January) will bring further improvements to it. There will also be additional changes/additions for the game, such as being able to befriend specific Blades or add Pyra and Dromarch to a mercenary team, but also LV4 skills for Blades.

Those who have purchased the downloadable content will get the following update with bonus items:

  • Driver’s Essentials Set: Rare Core Crystal (x10), Legendary Core Crystal (x1), Overdrive (x3)
  • Materials for Poppy: Ether Crystals (x30 000)
  • Pyra’s Favourite Pouch Item: Jenerossi Tea (x5)
  • Nia’s Favourite Pouch Item: Ardainian Bear Carving (x5)

    1. Just what I was going to say, was hoping for this. Wasn’t a good design decision how they originally implemented this.

      Also hope for another patch that gives you the ability to swap around certain buttons in the options. I’m so used to press X for opening the menu and Select for opening the map from Xenoblade Chronicles 1 that I always get it confused in this game.

      1. The map in general is just bad in Xenoblade 2. Not sure how they went from a war perfect over world map in X, to an almost unusable one in 2. It’s still a fun game but with a horrible mapping system.

      2. I agree. The map is my biggest complaint in the game. As a result of this, I actually use it quite rarely and prefer walking to my destination. I guess there is some positive in that, since it makes the game world feel bigger, but of course a map as intuitve as the one in the first Xenoblade would be ideal.

  1. Excited they’re fixing the bugs! Started this game and really did like it. However with Christmas coming up and receiving Mario Odyssey. I’m not sure which game to sink into first!

  2. “….pressing the X button will immediately bring you to the map of the area you’re currently in, on the Skip Travel screen;

    These are good. Now we need the resolution patch for handheld. Give us 540p low end option, even if it means an hour and a half battery life. A lot of us just use portable for short bursts out and about and/or around the house between seated sessions.

  3. The map is the only thing that really annoys me in the game. I love pretty much everything else. Great that it gets patched so soon!

  6. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King

    Looks like I lucked out with being busy with FFXV right now. Of course, I’m gonna be busy with RE7b again, too, since End of Zoe & Not a Hero are finally playable.
