Panic Button Handling The Switch Version Of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Panic Button who have had their hands in a number of quality ports for the Nintendo Switch will be handling the port of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. If you are not aware Panic Button were behind DOOM for Nintendo Switch and also Rocket League on Nintendo’s latest platform. Here’s what was said at the Fun & Serious Game Festival in Bilbao:

“That’s a collaboration with a different studio that we’re working together with,” said Öjerfors. “It’s the same as the Doom studio,” added Bjork.

Öjerfors then said: “They’re experts at the Switch and now they’re experts with the [id Tech 6] engine so we work with them, and the Doom version turned out to be really kick-ass on the Switch so I think Wolfenstein will be the same.” Bjork then stated that “it’s going to be as good”.

    1. They can only do what the Switch is capable of. Hopefully they’ve learned from their previous experience with the Switch and are able to get more out of the console than ever before. Either way, judging by the quality of Doom and Rocket League on Switch as is, we can predict that Wolfenstein II will be one of the better ports for the console.

      1. I really hope so. Without multiplayer aspect to worry about, they’ll manage to squeeze out more performance output for this one. But still, that didn’t stop MK8 Deluxe fulfilling 1080p/60FPS natively. The Switch is capable to match base PS4 despite it’s somewhat lower specs numbers. Remember, Apple manage to pull off some incredible feats through iPhone with just a portion of their lower end specs. It’s called “optimization” and if software developer can’t do it, then don’t complain about the hardware unless it’s truly primitive like trying to run Sonic Generations on Windows XP PC from 2005.

  1. I hope we see performance equal to Doom or better, if they could hit 720p on Portable and 900p on Dock mode while keeping solid 30FPS I would buy 2 copies instantly.

  2. Make it playable and fun and it’s a day one purchase for me. Loving Doom and RL both immense fun and both show what the swith can do. Panic button games have shown that the switch can still deliver current gen games on home/ hand held and I personally love then for it.
