Japan: Mario & Sonic At The Rio 2016 Olympic Games To Be Delisted From eShop

In a rather strange move, Nintendo and SEGA have delisted Mario & Sonic At The Rio 2016 Olympic Games for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U from the Japanese eShop. Those who wish to own a copy will have until 8pm ET on December 26, 2017 to download a digital copy. The game will be removed from the Japanese eShop on December 27, 2017 at 10am JST. There has been no reason as to why the game has been removed.

    1. Mario and Sonic 2014 is delisted too but with that one it’s a) not as hard and expensive to buy as 2016 for Wii U and b) there’s no sequel insight for the 2018 Winter Olympics

      1. Im going to go with A even stores have discounted the games this game has never been discounted on eshop it’s most likely it got it sells mostly physical , 2020 Olympics games has already been tease where Nintendo did a commercial collab last year at the last Olympics knowing they will go all out with that as 2020 will be taking place in there country

  1. I think it’s simply a move for let the new Olympics games (which will be Winter 2018) get more attention instead of playing the old game

Think about all the FIFA 12,13,14 ecc games, it’s pretty useless to a fan of fottball buying the old version

Beware this is only an hypothesis
