We found out today that the rumours were true and that Dark Souls Remastered is heading to the Nintendo Switch in May. The official press release for the game states that the challenging but rewarding title will be 1080p and 30fps when docked on the Nintendo Switch. The company hasn’t stated resolution and frame rate when in handheld mode, but no doubt we will find out in due course.
“Experience the rich world of DARK SOULS in upscaled 4K resolution with 60FPS when playing on a PlayStation 4 Pro system, Xbox One X, and PC. Also, 1080p resolution with 30FPS is available when playing the game on Nintendo Switch with its TV mode.”
Doesn’t bother me just as long as the terrible frame rate issues of the original are resolved.
I’m sure I’m not the only one with Blight Town PTSD.
I’m more interested to see undocked. Probably 720p30fps?
Most likely 720p undocked.
720p, 30fps in handheld mode. Put this on the news.
Not shabby. Would be cool to get an option of 720p 60fps in docked as an alternative. Like FE Warriors allows.
I’m fine with bloodborne in 30fps though, so I don’t see a big issue.
It’s not that’s it’s just an issue, it’s a better way of playing objectively :P XP So it would be preferable to have that option. I haven’t played the games yet cuz I’m been occupied with Monster Hunter since 2004. Don’t go “it’s not the same type of game” on me now folks xD
I haven’t played monster hunter but I’m curious about how do have been occupied in the monster hunter games since 2004. Are they really long games? By the way I’ve played Final Fantasy Explorers which my cousin say it has some similarities with MH.
MH never ends in the traditional way, and they keep coming with games often enough.
I see. Hope you can catch up with the Switch games. I haven’t catch up because of money issues. I have Zelda Breath of the Wild but not the console :(
Damn… Sorry to hear. I know how that is and my brother got it the same way too. I’m paying for stuff for him, and I wish I could do the same for more people… gaming is an important part of my life, and it hurts me to see others can’t play.
So you have played no other games than MH for 10 years?
13+ years* lel :P
But no, I haven’t, but I just have prioritised MH over Dark Souls. That’s all.
60fps is definitely far better to have, but 30fps is bearable for this kind of game to me. I mostly get pissy if a platformer isn’t 60fps.
Shooters, fighters, racers. For me almost any game must have 60. Ofc games like Fire Emblem don’t NEED it, but it’s still a treat.
60fps requires twice as much CPU usage as well. I’m doubting that would be an issue for Dark Souls but it’s possible.
I doubt it too. Just depends on whether or not they’re willing to put in that extra work or not. I’m thinking it won’t be an option, but we’ll see.
Sweet. Glad to see third parties making the most of the switch. Even more glad to see this kind of support for it.
1080p/30FPS docked; Dark Souls Remastered? I’m impressed. I wish Doom had the same treatment.
This I will buy. Haven’t played this one since my ps3..,however, I’m assuming the ps4 port will be superior?
Not bad
That’s a cool ass cover.
And for some dumbass reason, other 3rd parties couldn’t achieve 1080p on Switch before? Hey Sega, someone just schooled your ass on how to Port games at full potential.
Judging from how Switch is so weak, it can’t run a PS3 remaster in 60FPS while all other consoles (even last gen) can run, pretty sure resolution had to drop in favor of FPS. They should’ve done that for this remaster.
You say that and yet, not even the base PS4/XB1 can run it at that rate. Why you think both consoles HAD to be updated TWICE IN 3 YEARS? Don’t even go there with the weak console argument because those two compare to PC are weak as shit as well.
Would be cool if they did Switch exclusive stuff, like some boss fight, not just another lame ass crate containing more Link swag.
Acid trip to a dark Mushroom Kingdom with dark Bowser (or skeleton Bowser) as a boss would be great.
1080p in 30fps on Switch? NOICE!
And more than likely it’s using the same engine from Dark Souls 3, so this is really good news :D
