Nintendo is set to reveal a new way to play on the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo UK describes it a ‘experience that’s specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart.’ The event takes place this evening at 10pm UK time and 2pm PST.
Tune in at 10pm UK time tonight to discover a new interactive experience for Nintendo Switch that’s specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart.
Thanks to all those who sent this in.
Nintendo of Germany also posted this on its website. I’m curios what it could be. A game? A “switch mini”? A new accessory for the switch (with a game)?
How do you get a ‘switch mini’ from that??!
A Switch mini could be a concept that’s more suited for young kids, especially if it’s a handheld only device. (cheaper for parents and less moving, breakable parts)
You should make a list
I think it is more likely Virtual Console.
But, I suspect in 2-3 years we will get a Switch Pro and Switch Mini.
As the technology will have matured, they can fit a better battery and 1080p screen for the Pro, so that it matches the TV mode (with any extra powered ram/graphics card etc if needed).
A mini that is designed for Kids, a cheaper model by having no dock, that doesn’t have detachable controllers, better battery but same specs, and that is designed for only handheld, unless you buy a dock. This will keep the cost down, and allow them to still target the handheld market if they do not aim to make a 3DS successor.
The problem I see with ditching permanent handhelds, is the size and cost. The Switch still isn’t as portable as the 3DS, and a mini would help with that.
The Pro would need to meet TV mode specs though, and not split the market like the New 3DS does. In my opinion that would be bad.
I wonder (obviously) what the hell that means. People will probably be a little upset about the “kid” thing, but so it is.
5pm EST just in time for after work. Saw online that Animal Crossing developer or someone who works with it retweeted the annoucement.
||Ridleyslayer, a Switch Mini would neglect the second intended group based on your argument…||
Just offering a possibility as to how Ludwig got Switch mini from the announcement, but yes. You’re right.
Did anybody notice animal crossing dev retweeted the post something is fishy here, last time dev retweeted and replied to post we got games in the in mini direct base from them and I’m sure the rest will be announcing there’s in the next direct hopefully animal crossing has something to do with this

Do you know how to write a sentence?
Maybe there will be a mobile Switch crossplay with the Animal Crossing stuff… just a thought. That would be “new”
New way to play… Online service coming through?
VR kids edition
<VR it's cool
Yea not expecting much with that terminology used. Sounds like amiibo type of stuff
Same here. I’ll see later on, but just based on the wording, not getting my hopes up for anything interesting.
New way to play? Hmm.
I’m not expecting this to appeal to me, but I’m curious.
The kid part thrown in there makes in a hard call. I’m not to hype for this I think it’ll end up being a Switch mini or maybe some new joycons.
Yes of course the most likely thing this could be is a switch mini. What are some of you people smoking?!
so will this be a kind of direct or the direct people are speculating lately?
Something that uses that hd rumble and ir lens ???
I think your guess is best.
Looks like you were pretty much right. ^^
Wow, that’s certainly vague. Classic Nintendo. Guess we’ll just have to see what happens.
New way to play…
New Joycons?
Nah, not “kid” enough.
Now I’m curious.
I’ll be thoroughly surprised if it’s a Switch Mini this early in the game. Makes no sense to crank out another SKU when this one is on fire and they are still making marginal profit-per-unit on it. I expect the first revision no earlier than 2019.
This year, they’ll have reduced development costs enough to do a $250 Switch bundle for Christmas.
No way it is a Switch Mini.
This sounds like Disney is involved…
Didn’t they used that same slogan for Pii U? Not a good idea to remind us of that console.
