Nintendo recently unveiled their interesting new Labo concept which seems like an ingenious money-maker for the Kyoto-based company. The Toronto Sun recently caught up with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime who said that the project is not meant to be a competitive answer to VR. Instead it’s something that completely different.
“It’s not meant to be some sort of competitive answer [to virtual reality]. It’s meant to be something totally unique, totally unexpected.”

In fact it’s something different
And in fact totally unexpected!
And in fact totally unique.
It’s more like Augmented reality.
I didn’t even think of making such a comparison, they are two completely different things.
One gives me nausea, while the other gives me remorse for buying cardboard.
One gives you papercuts
Ah I see
Because it simply isn’t VR!
If they had a VR solution then it’s something that could have definitely augmented their VR experience though.
Such in-depth reporting. I love how just about every article is just a repetition of the headline you click to get to the article.
It’s either aimed at kids or not aimed at kids depending on which Reggie you’re talking to, since 3DS is their system for kids between 2 and 10 (what Reggie told Time magazine in October, 2017).
